Around here taking advantage of the vacations to catch up on some repairs and work in the house and a few days ago I started to do maintenance to some air conditioning bases that were unused and that at any time will be used again.

Hola amigos de Hive y Home Solutions, espero que todos se encuentren muy bien. Por aquí aprovechando las vacaciones para ponerme al día con algunas reparaciones y trabajos en la casa y hace unos días me puse a hacerle mantenimiento a unas bases de aire acondicionado que estaban sin uso y que en cualquier momento se van a usar nuevamente.
It turns out that at home we had 2 split type air conditioners, one for the room and one for the living room, but these were damaged for a long time, in February as we already told you we could buy a new 18,000 btu and pay for cashea.
We called a friend who installs and maintains air conditioners to install it, and we lowered the 2 damaged air and mounted the air in one of the bases, which goes to the room and I have the base of the other air, the room.

Resulta que en casa teníamos 2 aires acondicionados tipo split, uno para el cuarto y otro para la sala, pero estos estaban dañados desde hace mucho tiempo, en febrero como ya les contamos pudimos comprar uno nuevo de 18.000 btu y pagarlo por cashea.
Llamamos a un amigo que instala y hace mantenimiento a aires acondicionados para que lo instalara, y bajamos los 2 aires dañados y montamos el aire en una de las bases, el que va para la sala y me quedo la base del otro aire, el del cuarto.
These days I was on the outside of the house where the air condenser is and I noticed that the base that was alone was deteriorating badly and I remembered that I had stored there a quart of zinc chromate and one of black enamel and then I decided to disassemble the bases to give maintenance to not end up damaging and save it for another air.
I looked for the ratchet and the die that fit the screw and started to remove the screws to disassemble the base, already in hand the bases, I went to get a spatula and sandpaper to remove as much rust as I could, since I have no power tool that will facilitate the work.

En estos días estaba por el lado externo de la casa donde está el condensador del aire y observé que la base que estaba sola se estaba deteriorando mucho y me acordé que tenía por ahí guardado un cuarto de galón de cromato de zinc y uno de esmalte negro y entonces me decidí a desmontar las bases para darle mantenimiento para que no se terminara de dañar y guardarla para otro aire.
Busqué el ratchet y el dado que se ajustaba al tornillo y empecé a sacar los tornillos para desmontar la base, ya en mano las bases, fui a buscar una espátula y lija para quitarle lo más que pudiera el óxido, ya que no tengo ninguna herramienta electrica que me facilitará el trabajo.
I began by removing the rust and old paint that was already flaking with the spatula, then I passed a number 80 sandpaper to remove the rust and give it a better finish, then I took a cloth and dampened it with a little gasoline and passed it to remove all the dust.
I cut a clothes hanger in two parts to form two hooks and thus hang each of the bases and to be able to paint it more comfortably, then I looked for the zinc chromate, I mixed it and with a brush I painted the air base and let it dry, then I passed a second coat. When I uncovered the black enamel I realized that it was damaged, it was completely hard as a stone and did not have the thinner liquid, so I could not finish the whole job, now I need to buy an enamel and finish the job, but basically it is ready because it was and with the protective base and I have it sheltered indoors to keep it well until use.

Comencé retirando con la espátula el óxido y la pintura vieja que ya se estaba desconchando, luego le pase una lija número 80 para retirar mejor el óxido y darle un mejor acabado, después tomé un paño y lo humedecí con un poco de gasolina y se lo pase para retirarle todo el polvo.
Piqué un gancho de guindar ropa en dos partes para formar dos ganchos y así colgar cada una de las bases y poder pintarlo más comodamente, luego busqué el cromato de zinc, lo mezclé y con una brocha pinté la base del aire y la dejé secar, luego le pasé una segunda mano. Cuando destapé el esmalte negro me di cuenta que estaba dañado, estaba completamente duro como una piedra y no tenía el líquido diluyente, así que no pude terminar el trabajo completo, ahora necesito comprar un esmalte y terminar el trabajo, pero básicamente está listo porque quedó y con la base protectora y lo tengo resguardado bajo techo para mantenerlo bien hasta su uso.
