The Jetty, Lighthouse And Foot Torture At Enoshima - Wednesday Walk

There's always something new to see around Metro Tokyo. Recently I took a day trip to Enoshima and after walking around the island I decided to do some exploring.

On the North side of the island there is a small harbor for those lucky enough to own boats. Not owning a boat is why I have never explored this area, but I had time and an urge to see some new things. So I ventured over.

Enoshima is an amazing, small island a few hundred feet off the Kanagawa-ken coast. It's a major tourist attraction due to it's steep cliffs, narrow walkways and plethora of shops and shrines. However, the North side where the harbor is located is not much of a tourist area. It's a locals' spot, but not without it's attractions.

I made my way down the stairs I discovered more small shops and picturesque scenery of everyday life that most people miss.

As I wandered around I slowly made it to my destination, the jetty.

The jetty is a vey relaxing area to just stroll along and enjoy the ocean views.

And then someone thought, there's no gain without pain.

Actually, it didn't look too bad so I thought I should give the torture course a try.

All was manageable until I came to these.

Give Up! These little stones standing upright were pure torture. I was bending over, squirming to try and get over them. Lucky, there was an exit between the railing and I quit.

I put my shoes back on and turned back towards the lighthouse.

You have to love lighthouses.

They have a mysteriousness to them.

Maybe I feel that way because one of my earliest memories of a lighthouse was from the horror movie The Fog.https://youtu.be/eaPTNeEqR7c?si=IYYE2zxwIj3OgsZE

They really are cool though.

After taking everything in for a few minutes I headed back to the road to the mainland.

When I reached the road I caught the last minutes of a Honda classic car meet up.

These were from the late 80's and I remember them fondly growing up. Unfortunately the police had showed up and made them move on. Another Honda followed them out.

If you happen to travel to Enoshima, you may want to take a walk to the harbor and see what interesting things you can find.
