Hi splinter fam,
Welcome to my blog for your weekly dose of splinterlands content. I've been writing a lot less about spl and on hive in general. Content creation in general from my side has seen a downhill and in my effort to go back to it, it am trying with this social media post for today. In the past i would have written this post a few days ago but now this is where we are.
As usual, me not writing about spl doesn't mean I don't play spl everyday. As I said the other time I want to play spl less and less everyday even though I want to venture into other parts of spl little by little. One of the places that I want to venture into is the tournaments. Tournaments is one place that one can earn a decent amount of sps from daily but then in that particular place you come up against the best of the best. The best of the best use their cards in all aspects of spl and one of those places is Tournaments. Yesterday, I joined one and eveb though I couldn't make it to the second round of the tournament, I was still able to earn a little over a dollar for thay particular tournament.
The last time I made an spl post was exactly 20 days ago. 20 days ago means ive missed 6 spl posts which I am not proud of.
The whole of today, I've been playing spl so today I'll be writing about one of my battles. This particular battle is one that I look back and then I am proud of my selection. Not just because I won but also because this is another ruleset I don't like coming up against.
That ruleset is the back to basics ruleset. With the back to basics ruleset, you automatically loose all abilities that the cards have. They only have the attacking feature, speed and shield. The only abilities which you will get are features from your summoner.
The reason why I don't like it is that when I come up against it I over think and then I loose. In the past I would concentrate more on having cards with a lot of shield which made me specifically go for melee attack cards. This days with what I've learnt so far I simply go in for magic cards with a lot of attack. Having cards with a lot of health can work in one's favor as well but if doesn't work as effective as having a lot of fire power.
Having cards with low speed doesn't really count as long as they have good attacking powers in my opinion.
Since I play in diamond the other rulesets were rise of the Commons which means only rare and common units are available for selection and then finally unprotected. This also mean all cards have 0 amour and can't gain amour even from summoners.
In a battle like this I opted to go in for a lot of magic cards for reasons that if I selected a lot of melee they couldn't attack from other positions and then range cards too were a no cause if they came into first position at some point they couldn't attack.

So I went in for the Sheng xiao summoner. This summoner has quickly become one of my favorite summoners to use in battle. Its a dragon summoner which means you get to use the dragon cards with it and then it also grants two of your cards the poison burst ability or corrosive ward ability. Ever since I started using it I have always gone for the poison burst to 2 of my cards. This means that when two of my selected cards are killed, the card which did the killing gets afflicted with poison alongside adjacent cards.
For my first card I went in for a strong melee card which is the giant alpine skink. This card has 9 health and 4 melee attack. It also has a speed of 5 meaning it'll have the chance to attack before getting killed. I also made sure to grant it the poison burst ability since its in the first position and its likely to get killed fast.
Next was another melee card called chaos rear guard. This card had same 9 health and I chose it cause of its health as well. It couldn't attack from the second position but I still placed it there so when the first card was killed it'll take over. I granted it the poison burst as well.
Next was water diviner, a magic card. Then I went for the quillstorm mage. Chaos adjutant and then arcane skinwalker. All of which were magic cards.

The game went how I wanted it to. 2 of my posion bursts cards were killed and their poisoned ability help me win this game. I last 2 of the cards and then the rest was an easy battle.
