It’s so easy to be hard on ourselves because we live in a world where people often point out what’s wrong rather than what’s right, so sometimes, we end up doing the same to ourselves, focusing too much on our flaws and forgetting the beautiful things we already have. But I’ve come to learn that self-love isn’t selfish. It’s necessary. And now, hello Hive community, it's your beloved @rufajane back with another blog. For this blog, I would like to answer this question: "What do I actually love about me?"

The first part of me I love are my dimples. They're just tiny marks that show up when I smile. Ever since I was young, people would often notice them, sometimes pointing them out as a compliment. At first, I didn’t think much of it. I used to feel a little shy when people mentioned them, like I didn’t know how to respond to the compliments. But over time, I realized they’re part of what makes my smile mine.

They somehow make my expressions look genuine, even if I’m feeling nervous or unsure on the inside. What I love most is that I didn’t have to work for them or try to create them. They’ve always just been there haha and that's what I like. My dimples remind me to smile more, to be proud of the little things that make me different, and to appreciate the kind of beauty that doesn’t need to shout to be seen.

Another feature I truly love about myself are my eyes.

Not to mention, I always got complimented because of it and they carry so much of who I am. And honestly, I don’t love them just because of how they look, I love them because of what they show. I also believe that my eyes speak for me when I can’t find the words. Whether I’m happy, worried, inspired, or lost in thought, it always shows. They’ve seen the good days and the hard ones as well. And somehow, through it all, there’s always something in me that believes things will get better.

And just like my dimples, they’re a part of me that I didn’t choose, but I’ve grown to love. Not just because they’re mine, but because of what they reflect or can do.

As for my eyebrows, I’ve actually received a lot of compliments about them especially about how naturally dark and well-shaped they are. What surprises people most is when I tell them I don’t use anything on them. No eyebrow pencil, no gel, nothing. They just assume I put effort into shaping or filling them in, when in reality, that’s just how they are. I remember a few people even asking what product I use, and when I say "none," they get genuinely surprised.

At first, I didn’t think much of it. But hearing those little compliments made me realize that something so simple could be noticed and appreciated by others. It made me feel seen, in a subtle but kind way.

Each one of us has its own favorite feature in ourselves. And as for me, these are my dimples, eyes, and eyebrows. And as I grow, I hope to keep finding more things to love, not just on the outside, but from within. Because self-love is a journey and I’m learning to walk it with more kindness.
