Hello, Hive communities and fellow writers! Welcome to my verserye #1. It’s me, @rufajane, a passionate poet and a writer of all wonders. Have you ever wondered what **cryptic poems** are like? Well, you’ll find out in this blog. This will be my first time posting about my poems here, my masterpieces that I’ve been keeping in one folder. I guess now is the right time to give you a little glimpse of what they’re all about. This cryptic poem is entitled ***“Labyrinth Heart.”*** From the title itself, *labyrinth*, you may already have an idea of what it’s about. Love can be so elusive at times, like a labyrinth (or maze), yet we always risk hurting ourselves in the process. I still don’t fully understand the logic behind it: Why do we keep doing the things that hurt us? Is it because life intends to teach us lessons, or because we allow ourselves to experience pain until we grow immune to it? You can share your thoughts in the comments, but before that, let me tell you the context of this poem. ---- I wrote this piece from a place of observation. On the surface, it’s about a boy helping a girl with something simple, like answering an assignment or something more. But beneath that small act lies a bigger question many of us face: when someone shows us attention, is it genuine care? or just a passing game? ![image.png](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/rufajane/23ywiafypvXRRkfmAigTfw1nES6ZbvkSoxG4p8QDUceK4fxBU4gX24eSSe9oisN6DtQyu.png) **Ai-generated** This poem is about the *sent message* versus the *received message*. Maybe it’s safe to call it a case of “mixed signals.” Even if unintentional, we allow ourselves to assume something that isn’t certain. When someone treats us kindly, we often conclude that maybe he likes us too but in the end, it turns out to be nothing more than one-sided admiration. That’s the heart of this poem. It reflects how, no matter how painful it becomes, we still keep going until we fall only to end up getting hurt even more. I still don’t understand the logic behind it: why do boys sometimes act in ways that can easily be interpreted as something more? Is it their intention to break a girl’s heart, or are they simply being too kind? The girl in the poem wanted to protect her heart, yet the boy kept sending signals that twisted her interpretation of the situation. Is that really what admiration is supposed to be? ![image.png](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/rufajane/23wfjdBvvgHQq4mWu6GnjoicupMvMs9veRWoRz7YrC9dL65sJawWVkaZR8uPxHB4gYMSJ.png) **Ai-generated** It’s funny to reflect on how easily we can be drawn to charm, while doubting whether it comes from sincerity or just a fleeting game. And let’s admit it, we’ve all met people like this: those who shine brightly for a moment, but leave us questioning if the light was real, or just a flicker meant to fade. As a writer, I often draw inspiration from the things I observe around me. And I am hoping I can read your masterpieces too. That’s it for this blog. I hope you liked it. I have more poems to share, and if you’d like to read them, I’ll keep posting until, hopefully, I inspire another writer. Thank you, and have a wonderful day, everyone.
