Our lifestyle differs. Everyone is entitled to how they choose to live their lives and for me, choosing to live the minimalist lifestyle has helped me in lots of ways which has made a lot of positive impacts on my general well-being.
Minimalism has helped me have a cleaner environment. Having to clean at all times is enough of a chore, now imagine having to keep cleaning and organizing a whole lot of things at all times? It would be physically and mentally draining to say the least.
With fewer possessions, I don't have to spend all day cleaning, arranging and rearranging. I declutter as much as I can. Give out things I don't need and trash out items that are completely worn and can't be recycled. It reduces stress whenever I want to clean again by a whole lot and gives me time to focus on other things.
Minimalism has helped me with home management, especially when it comes to budgeting. I do try, as hard as it can be to avoid the distraction of impulse buying especially when the goods are sold on discount.
Sometimes the allure of paying lower prices can be so tempting and I am speaking from experience because I had fallen for such temptation before and it didn't end well. I got way more than I had budgeted and ended up buying things I didn't need which led to more clutter. Now I have learned my lessons and I no longer give in. I don't buy on impulse, I go for things I need and that's it.
Even when I have friends over, I'd host them but I don't go beyond my means and they love me enough that they would eat and drink what I can afford to give them. One day I could choose to make them Pasta or rice and another day we'd be vibing over a bowl of cassava flakes and floating berries( groundnut) ๐๐๐.
Minimalism has helped my fashion life. Having not to worry about what to wear all the time helps me get ready on time and doesn't make me disorganized. I have some go-to dresses that fit every occasion and it has been helping me a lot. I don't change my wardrobe all the time but when I do, I ensure that I get dresses that I would be able to wear from time to time. This is why thrift stores are my favorite places to buy from. Even when I make dresses for myself, I ensure that I don't make complicated styles that I won't be to wear on my own(some styles are can really be stressful).
Minimalism has helped me in ways that words alone cannot express. I am very content with my lifestyle. I don't live above my means and I don't live to impress anyone. I am calmer and more focused. I can think better without feeling overwhelmed and even though I don't have it all figured out, I know I am free enough to enjoy the simple things of life.
