Home is mostly considered as a safe space for everyone. For me, I also consider my home as my comfort zone. A place where I can relax and rest my head after a long day from work.
But most importantly, even when it's not a work day, I also find comfort in staying home, sleeping in and allowing the warmth of my home to envelop me.
One thing I love about my area of residence is how quiet it always is be it morning, afternoon or night.
Beside the little noise from vehicles that are passing by occassionally, you would barely hear any kind of unnecessary noise. Which makes it easier to be able to think and meditate.
I used to have a bitter leaf tree in my compound. It was where I used to sit whenever I am at home. The tree had been there since I moved in and I just claimed it as my cool spot.
The tree served as my place of comfort for a long time. I can sit there for hours, reading or just listening to music. It provided enough shade from the sun and sometimes I would just take a bench, place it under the tree and lie on it.
That bitter leaf tree also helped me out when I needed to make some soups. I would pick the leaves, wash it and use it in making soup.
It broke my heart when a heavy rain and thunder uprooted the tree some time ago. I never thought I'd see the day that tree would no longer be there. I was able to replant some using the stem and it's growing gradually.
I can't wait for it to be as big as the previous tree. I don't know how many years that would take but I know it will be fun to rest under it's shades again.
Now, while I enjoy staying indoors when I am not going to work, I also enjoy staying outside. Every evening or thereabout, I come downstairs to enjoy the evening breeze and while I no longer have a big tree that can provide enough shade to sit under, there's still enough space in the compound to sit and relax.
Even when I have friends over, we usually sit in the compound and gist enjoying the cool breeze.
So I can say that my home is my comfort zone and it is my most cherished place in the world.
