Hola a todos! Espero que esten bien en esta nueva semana del hive music festival de la semana 153 round 2. En esta nueva semana les traigo una cancion llamada el carretero.
En estas dos semanas desde que acabó las vacaciones he estado en el proceso de incorporarme al servicio social, osea trabajar, lo cual estuve ausente por acá a veces termino de trabajar a la 1 ya que tenemos actuaciones en el grupo varias veces. Estoy trabajando en un grupo de son llamado Son del Caimán haciendo alusión a son (el genero musical) de la isla cubana que como algunos conocen tiene forma de caimán. Esta canción me recuerda muchisimo al grupo ya que el primer día que fui con ellos a conocer el grupo y todo eso me preguntaron si conocía la canción el carretero que no es un instrumental, es una canción popular del son. En ese momento en que estaba compartiendo musicalmente con los otros músicos del grupo en que trabajo nos coordinamos y tocamos el carretero. Pues el trombón y yo comenzamos la introducción junto con el piano la percusión y el bajo acompañándonos hasta que la cantante comenzó a cantar y yo comencé a hacer algún que otro punteo y el piano a acompañar. Me encantó como quedó el tema, el solo que me tocó improvisar lo hice con emoción ya que nunca he trabajado y este es mi primer trabajo y lo disfruto muchísimo. El carretero la conocí en la ENA ya que el profesor de practica de conjunto nos la enseñó y nos hacía improvisar sobre esta a cada uno aunque habían algunos que no se atrevían pero a mi me encanta atreverme con intentarlo uno nunca pierde y siempre me ha gustado improvisar y hacer solos.
Estas semanas he tenido bastante poco tiempo libre pero realmente disfruto en que lo empleo ya que la musica me encanta y siempre ha sido parte de mi.

Hello everyone! I hope you're doing well in this new week of the Hive Music Festival, week 153, round 2. This week, I bring you a song called El Carretero.
Over the past two weeks since the holidays ended, I’ve been in the process of starting my social service—that is, working—which is why I’ve been a bit absent here. Sometimes I finish work at 1 a.m. because we have performances with the group quite often. I’m working with a son group called Son del Caimán, a name that references son (the musical genre) and the shape of the Cuban island, which some say resembles a caiman. This song reminds me a lot of the group because on my first day meeting them, they asked me if I knew El Carretero. It’s not an instrumental—it’s a popular son song. That moment, sharing music with the other musicians in the group, we coordinated and played El Carretero together. The trombone and I started the intro along with the piano, percussion, and bass, backing each other until the singer began to sing. I started doing a few melodic riffs while the piano accompanied. I loved how the piece turned out. The solo I got to improvise was full of emotion, especially since I’ve never worked before—this is my first job, and I’m enjoying it immensely.
I first learned El Carretero at ENA, where our ensemble practice teacher taught it to us and had each of us improvise over it. Some didn’t dare, but I love taking risks—when you try, you never lose. I’ve always enjoyed improvising and doing solos.
These past weeks I’ve had very little free time, but I truly enjoy how I spend it, because I love music and it’s always been a part of me.
