Walking and reflections (Eng/Esp)

There are places that change their atmosphere depending on the time we walk through them, this is due to the intensity and position of the sun, the season of the year, the shadows of the trees, the lighting and the number of people who are there. An emblematic case is the Square Bolivar in Cumana, which I have to cross every time I need to go to the center of the city. Usually, the square is very crowded in the morning hours due to the fact that there is located the headquarters of the Government and several governmental offices, the house of Andrés Eloy Blanco, which functions as a museum, and also nearby are academic campuses, so there is a presence of uniformed students.  Several days ago I passed by there at noon and there was no one in the square. The sun was at its highest intensity and it was lunch time, enough reasons to take shelter. Sometimes art exhibitions are held in the old Cine Pichincha, but on this occasion everything was closed, which made the atmosphere desolate.  Between one and two o'clock in the afternoon you can walk for a while in solitude and appreciate the greenery of the trees, every detail can captivate the eye if we know how to appreciate it. So many times I have passed by here and very few times I have stopped to analyze the silence that occurs at this time, it is as if this space was also the reflection of a city that pauses its beating to let the most critical moments of the day pass, when there are no shadows on the horizon and therefore everything seems farther away.

Existen lugares que cambian de atmósfera dependiendo de la hora en la cual transitamos por ellos, esto se debe a la intensidad y la posición del sol, la temporada de año, las sombras de los árboles, la iluminación y la cantidad de personas que se encuentren allí. Un caso emblemático es el de la Plaza Bolívar de Cumaná, la cual debo atravesar cada vez que requiera trasladarme hasta el centro de la ciudad. Por lo regular, la plaza es muy concurrida en horas de la mañana debido a que allí está ubicada la sede de la Gobernación y varias direcciones gubernamentales, la casa de Andrés Eloy Blanco que funciona como un museo, además cerca se encuentran recintos académicos, así que se observa presencia de estudiantes uniformados.  Hace varios días pasé por allí en horas del mediodía y no había nadie en la plaza. El sol estaba a su máxima intensidad y además era hora del almuerzo, razones suficientes para resguardarse. A veces suelen realizarse exposiciones de arte en el antiguo Cine Pichincha, pero en esta ocasión todo estaba cerrado, lo que hizo que el ambiente se tornara desolador.  Entre la una y las dos de la tarde se puede caminar un rato en soledad y apreciar el verdor de los árboles, cada detalle puede cautivar la vista si lo sabemos apreciar. Tantas veces he pasado por acá y en muy pocas me he detenido a analizar el silencio que se presenta a estas horas, es como si este espacio fuera también el reflejo de un ciudad que pausa su palpitar para dejar pasar los instantes más críticos del día, cuando no hay sombras en el horizonte y por lo tanto todo parece más lejos.
