Buying My Gas Cylinder Hello to the entire #Hive community, especially to those in the Daily Blog. A few days ago, my grandfather told me that it is very important to pay attention to buying the liquefied gas cylinder. It was a Friday like any other; my grandfather and I woke up to a blackout, as is customary, and the old man had to make coffee and toast bread with the little gas we had left. I got up, got dressed, and more asleep than awake, I had coffee and breakfast. After that, I brushed my teeth and went down with the empty cylinder and the gas contract. Fortunately, the purchase point is very close to my house, but I had to wait hours to finally have the cylinder in my hands. It was quite a long morning; I had to make three trips to the gas point. First, to pick up the ticket, then to do the pre-dispatch of the empty cylinder, and finally to buy the new cylinder. But that wasn’t the only thing I did so that you don’t think this story is short; during one of those round trips, we transferred gas from one cylinder to another because the one we needed to change still had enough gas left to cook for at least a few days. Honestly, here in my country, the liquefied gas cylinder is very necessary, especially for us who suffer through 10 to 15 consecutive hours of blackouts, or even 24 to 36 hours, and we need to find a way to feed ourselves. Many of us Cubans on this brilliant platform have experienced the humble discomfort of waiting hours and hours to finally have a gas cylinder in our possession that will last at least 5 or 6 months, as mine did. Of course, there are other cooking alternatives that are not like gas, nor are they even cheaper, but I don’t have access to them. For example, there’s the always inconvenient charcoal, which costs a minimum of 1500 Cuban pesos, not to mention the time one has to spend lighting that darn charcoal. The kerosene stove is another alternative, but right now they cost 40 or 45 USD, and acquiring the fuel is more complicated. The truth is that as long as you have gas and can take advantage of having electricity to cook and meet the specific needs of the household. The images used in the post were provided by the sources.
