🥇🇨🇺 Leyanis pone a Cuba en sus hombros en jornada histórica para nuestro país en el Mundial de Atletismo (es/en)

Saludos a toda la comunidad de Full Deportes, en una jornada llena de alegrías para nuestro país, una mujer, alta, natural de mi bello Pinar del Río, clavó los pinchos de sus botines mas lejos que sus rivales para convertirse en campeona del mundo. Su nombre, Leyanis Pérez Hernández, natural de un barrio aquí en mi provincia conocido como El Rancho. En una oportunidad, allá por el año 2022, tuve el placer de conocerla, ya que coincidimos en la emisora de radio provincial de acá. De hecho llegamos a tomarnos una foto pero desgraciadamente no se dónde está actualmente esa imagen que para mí es eterna. Esos benditos 15 metros le han sido esquivos y hoy tenía la oportunidad de conseguirlos. La final no sería nada fácil, había un entry de lujo. Para comenzar, su compatriota Liadagmis Povea, que traía un 14.87 como su mejor registro del año, y fue segunda en la Liga del Diamante, la fenomenal Yulimar Rojas, paisana de @fermionico, quien no necesita presentación, dueña de las mejores marcas de todos los tiempos, y por último la campeona olímpica Thea Lafond, de Dominica que sabe lo que es saltar 15 metros. En la segunda ronda de saltos, Lafond que saltó 14.52 en su primer salto, desplazó a Povea a la cuarta posición ya que se estiró hasta los 14.76. Sin embargo, lo mejor estaba por venir, tras el foul en su segundo salto, Leyanis, se repuso y subió la parada hasta los 14.90, salto que aseguraba medalla, pero ella sabía que el oro no se lo quitaba nadie. Liadagmis, a pesar de que mejoró en 5 centímetros, se quedó a las puertas del podio, y Yulimar la verdad, para mí es mucho mérito ese bronce con un salto de 14.76, pero nada absolutamente nada podía detener a Leyanis. Ni siquiera el valiente salto de Lafond en la última ronda de 14.89 la intimidó, y la nuestra clavó dos veces los pinchos en 14.94 para certificar su medalla de oro, la primera desde el 2019 en donde ganamos el oro en disco femenino. Considero que con este título del orbe de Leyanis, se abre una puerta a un brillante futuro, de una niña de solo 25 años y con un presente ya hecho realidad. 🥇🇨🇺 Leyanis puts Cuba on her shoulders in a historic day for our country at the World Athletics Championships. Greetings to the entire Full Deportes community! Today has been filled with joy for our country, as a tall woman from my beautiful Pinar del Río has thrown the spikes of her shoes further than her rivals to become the world champion. Her name is Leyanis Pérez Hernández, hailing from a neighborhood here in my province known as El Rancho. Back in 2022, I had the pleasure of meeting her when we coincided at the provincial radio station. In fact, we even took a photo together, but unfortunately, I don’t know where that image is now—it's one that I cherish eternally. Leyanis arrived at this final as the season leader with a personal best of 14.98 meters, which she achieved in 2023. Those blessed 15 meters have eluded her, and today she had the chance to achieve them. The final was not going to be easy, as there was a stellar lineup. To start, her compatriot Liadagmis Povea, who had a best of 14.87 for the year and was second in the Diamond League; the phenomenal Yulimar Rojas, a fellow countrywoman of @fermionico, who needs no introduction as she holds the best marks of all time; and finally, the Olympic champion Thea Lafond from Dominica, who knows what it’s like to jump over 15 meters. The final began in the best way for our athletes, with Leyanis jumping 14.85 meters, sending a message to her rivals that tonight was her night (Japan time), while Liadagmis jumped 14.67, momentarily placing her in third position, as Yulimar jumped 14.76. In the second round of jumps, Lafond, who had jumped 14.52 in her first attempt, pushed Povea to fourth place with a jump of 14.76. However, the best was yet to come; after a foul on her second jump, Leyanis regrouped and raised the bar to 14.90 meters—a jump that secured her a medal, but she knew that no one could take the gold away from her. Liadagmis improved by 5 centimeters but fell just short of the podium, and Yulimar's bronze with a jump of 14.76 is quite an achievement in my opinion. However, absolutely nothing could stop Leyanis. Not even Lafond's brave jump of 14.89 in the last round intimidated her; Leyanis nailed two jumps at 14.94 meters to secure her gold medal—the first since 2019 when we won gold in women's discus. I sincerely hope that the Cuban Athletics Federation shows positivity and allows our triple jumpers to train under the guidance of a giant like Iván Pedroso. Although he resides in Spain, he is Cuban, and if our athletes aspire to surpass the 15-meter barrier someday, I believe that is the solution. With this world title for Leyanis, I see a door opening to a bright future for this 25-year-old girl whose present has already become a reality.
