Bananas had a different name here in our local, it can be called “banangar”, “senorita”, “saba” and so on. It can also be cooked with different types of snacks which are loved by Filipinos like banana que, “turon”, banana chips and many more. This time I’m going to show you a snack from banana and I’m going to use “saba” a kind of banana used to cooked banana que and “turon”. This snack is “turon” with a twist, I don’t know if you had already done this but I tell you it was worth trying, the taste was different from the “turon” that Filipinos used to eat.

So, join me in my humble kitchen as I prepare and cook this delicious snack.

Ingredients:

  • 6 pcs. “saba” banana (you can add more if you want)

  • 1 pack 33 grams powdered milk (any brand)

  • Cheese (cut into strips)

  • 1 tablespoon Condensed milk (optional for toppings)

  • Lumpia wrapper

Preparation:

In a bowl mash the bananas using a fork. Then add the powdered milk and mix, then mix thoroughly until well combined.

Then place the lumpia wrapper in a flat surface. Get at least 2 tablespoons of the banana mixture. Flatten it then add some cheese for fillings. Then wrapped and seal the edges with a water. Repeat the process until all the mixture are wrapped. I made a total of 13 pcs. for the recipe provided.

Cooking Time:

In a pan, put enough oil to fry the “turon”, set the fire into it’s lowest so that it would cook the “turon” fairly and will not overdue, because the lumpia wrapper tends to be cooked immediately.

Drain the “turons” then put in a plate. I also added some condensed milk as a toppings or this snack.

Then we have it my very own “turon with a twist”, the combination of milk and cheese really melts in the mouth plus the natural sweetness of the banana that it gives, it was a perfect combination. I was happy that we had a delicious snack again for today.

That’s all my dear hiver friends who loves to share their food recipe. See you till’ next blog. Have a wonderful day and keep safe everyone 😊
