Good day, everyone! It's been a while. đ I hope you're all doing well. Today, I want to share my makeup and outfit inspired by ***Maomao from*** ***The Apothecary Diaries***. I've always thought about cosplaying her, but the main issue is her outfit, I can't really afford to buy one. So, I decided to create a look inspired by her instead.
It actually turned out pretty well. I remembered I had a green shirt that I bought a while ago, and it just happened to match Maomaoâs style. When I realized that, I grabbed it and started putting the outfit together.
As for the skirt, Maomao wears a long red one, but I donât have anything like that, so I improvised again. I was planning to use my little sisterâs mini skirt since it was just for the inspired look, but unfortunately, we couldnât find it. Still, I think the whole look came together nicely.

For the makeup, I started with eyeliner first, I'm not sure why, but I'm just used to starting with it haha. I didn't have a green wig, so I styled my hair similar to Maomao's. It wasnât a big deal since it's just an inspired look anyway. I have blue contact lenses and was planning to use them, but I always struggle to put them in haha. I usually need help from my friendâheâs the one who puts my lenses in whenever I cosplay.
The hair was actually the easiest part. I didnât even notice at first that the lower hair tie was supposed to be blue, but again, itâs just for the inspo haha. I also did her freckles, and honestly, I think I did such a good jobâI could compliment myself a million times. Maomao has a look where she wears eyeshadow, so I mixed that into my inspired look just to make it a bit more fun.
The only problem I had was with the camera haha. I always struggle with getting good shots.

I then began my photoshoot. It's always a struggle because my siblings are too lazy to do me a favorâeven if I offer them money, they still wonât help. But anyway, I still pulled through. I took a lot of pictures by myself, and honestly, I couldnât stop staring at my eyeshadowâthe blending turned out so good.
I didnât even use a flat iron for my bangs, which usually fly away in every direction, but this time, they looked so steady. That surprised me in the best way. During the photoshoot, I was sweating like crazy, but I still kept going. I didnât want all the effort I put into the makeup and outfit to go to waste.
Even though it wasnât a full cosplay, I was really happy with how everything turned out. I had fun, and thatâs what matters most.

After the photoshoot, I reviewed the pictures, and some of them really surprised me, in a good way. I didnât expect them to look like that considering I was working with just my phone, and a bit of natural lighting. It reminded me how much I enjoy creating, even with limited resources. Sometimes, you donât need fancy equipment to express your creativity.
It also made me appreciate the little things, like how a simple shirt and a bit of imagination can turn into something inspired. Cosplay doesnât always have to be exact, itâs the fun, effort, and personal touch that bring the character to life. I felt connected to Maomao in my own way, even if it wasnât a full-on cosplay.

Looking back, Iâm more than proud of how I managed everything by myself. From the makeup to the shoot. It mightâve been tiring and a bit sweaty, haha, but it was all worth it. Iâll definitely keep doing more inspired looks when I canât go full cosplay. Who knows? Maybe next time Iâll even get my siblings to help⊠or not. Haysss

Thatâs all for todayâs little cosplay-inspired story! Thank you so much for reading, and I @saixieh, hope you enjoyed this simple but fun transformation into Maomao. Sometimes, itâs not about having everything perfect, itâs about enjoying the process and making the most out of what you have. If youâre thinking of doing a look like this, too, just go for it! You donât need expensive stuff to create something beautiful.
Until next time, take care and keep expressing yourself in your own creative way. God bless!!đ
