Lately, there's an ability that's caught my attention. It's the Execute ability. This ability lets you perform an additional attack if your target's HP is 2 or less after your attack hits. Isn't that powerful?
Abilities that increase attack frequency or targets are generally powerful. Regarding attack frequency, the Double Strike ability has always been strong. Additionally, the Blast ability is also very powerful because it increases the number of targets.
Double Strike allows you to attack a target twice, while Blast can deliver up to three attacks including front and rear strikes, significantly boosting your total damage output.
Execute is an ability similar to Double Strike, but the second attack has a condition: “After the attack hits, if the target's HP is 2 or less, you can attack again.”
In other words, if you miss, no additional attack occurs. Even if the attack hits, no additional attack occurs if the target has 3 or more HP remaining. A minor tweak to Double Strike. It feels like a downgrade.
Double Strike and Execute are undoubtedly powerful abilities, but they tend to have higher mana costs and lower attack power compared to others. Simply being able to attack twice doesn't necessarily make them stronger than larger units.
NIMBLEDOOK RANGER is clearly underpowered, isn't it? I've often thought it should at least have 2 attack points.
Regarding that additional attack ability, with the release of Conclave Arcana, Execute has become quite interesting. It was an Earth Element Summoner that could grant Execute to Elves.
You can increase the number of attacks by granting Execute to units with high attack power or speed. For example, in this battle.
With Execute granted to SILVERLEAF MAGE, it can defeat units with maximum HP of 5 points. That's quite significant, isn't it?
I thought that since only ELF could be assigned, there might be few targets eligible for assignment in Modern.
There are surprisingly many of them. LORD THANALOR, especially with his high attack power and HP, seems like a particularly good match. Since his magic attack deals 3 damage, even if the target is a high-armor tank unit, the damage goes directly to their HP, making Execute highly likely to trigger.
Furthermore, NIDHOGGR serves as a superior summoner to SILVERLEAF MAGE, capable of granting the Execute ability. This summoner is truly powerful, able to grant Execute and Speed +2 to three units.
I didn't think much of it at release, but it's incredibly powerful. Its 10 mana cost is a drawback, though.
I think this card got buffed later too, didn't it? That's what I recall.
The downside is that it's ridiculously expensive. 🤣
In this battle, NIDHOGGR's Execute is proving extremely effective. Due to the Explosive Weaponry rule, the Blast ability is applied to all units. This means that after defeating the targeted unit, additional attacks are flying toward adjacent units that took Blast damage.
Execute is still powerful with its additional attacks! I'd love to have NIDHOGGR at level 2, but the price is just too steep, so I've given up on it.
Even at Level 1, it costs around 30,000 DEC. While you can still use it since Execute is granted even at Level 1...
I've been agonizing over whether I should just buy the SILVERLEAF MAGE GF instead.
Well, since my cards aren't selling, I don't have nearly enough money to buy it anyway. 😂

最近、気になるアビリティがあります。それは Execute アビリティです。攻撃が命中した結果、HPが2以下であれば追加の攻撃が可能というこのアビリティ。強くない？
基本的に攻撃回数、攻撃対象を増やすアビリティは強力です。攻撃回数に関しては Double Strike アビリティが昔から強力ですよね。あとは Blast アビリティも攻撃対象を増やすためとても強力です。
Double Strike は対象に2回攻撃できますし、 Blast なら前後含めて最大3回分の攻撃できるのでトータルダメージが一気に伸びます。
Execute もDoble Strike に似た能力ですが2回目の攻撃に条件が付いていて、「攻撃が成功したのち、対象のHPが2以下であればもう一回攻撃できる。」という事です。
つまり、ミスすれば追加攻撃は発生しませんし、攻撃が成功してもHPが3以上残っている場合も追加攻撃は発生しません。 Double Strike のマイナーチェンジ。下位互換って感じですね。
Double Strike と Execute は強力なアビリティであることは間違いないのですが、マナコストが他より大きめで攻撃力が低い傾向があって、単純に追加で攻撃できるからと言って大型のユニットよりも強力であるとは限りません。
NIMBLEDOOK RANGER なんかは明らかにパワー不足ですよね。せめて攻撃力が2点あればと何度か思いましたよ。
そんな追加攻撃アビリティですが、 コンクラーベ アルカナ の発売で Execute が面白いことになってきました。 EarthエレメントのサモナーがElfに Execute を付与できるサモナーだったんです。
攻撃力が高かったりスピードが速いユニットに Execute を付与することで攻撃回数を増やすことが可能です。 例えばこのバトル。
SILVERLEAF MAGE に Execute が付与されることで最大HPが5点のユニットを倒せますね。これは結構大きいですよね。
付与できるのがELFだけという事でモダンでは少ないんじゃないかと思っていましたが。
意外と沢山いますね。とくに攻撃力とHPが高い LORD THANALOR あたりはとても相性がよさそうな気がします。魔法攻撃で3点なので、仮にターゲットが高アーマーのタンクユニットでも直接HPにダメージが入るので Execute が発生する可能性は高くなりますしね。
さらに、 Execute アビリティを付与できる SILVERLEAF MAGE の上位互換的なサモナーとして NIDHOGGR がいます。このサモナーはホントに強くて Execute とスピード+2を 3体のユニットに付与できますね。
リリース時点ではあまり気にしていなかったんですが、めちゃくちゃ強いですね。マナコストが10もあるのが欠点ではありますが。
このカードもあとから上方修正されたんだったかな？そんな気がします。
欠点は値段がめちゃくちゃ高いことですね。🤣
このバトルでは NIDHOGGR の Execute が非常に有効に働いてますね。 Explosive Weaponry ルールのため、Blast アビリティが全ユニットに付与されている為、攻撃対象となったユニットを倒した後でBlastダメージを与えた隣接ユニットにも追加の攻撃が飛んでいますね。
やはり追加の攻撃が発生する Execute は強い！ 私も NIDHOGGR がレベル2で欲しいんですけど流石にお値段が高いのであきらめています。
レベル1でも 30,000 DECくらいしちゃいますからね。レベル1でも Execute が付与できるので使えなくはないのですが...
どうせ買うなら SILVERLEAF MAGE のGFを購入したほうがいいかもしれないと思ってずっと悩んでいます。
まぁ、カードが売れていないので購入資金は全然足りていないんですけどね。😂
