In the middle of summer’s heat:
a storm unleashed.
Carrying secrets from elsewhere,
it groans fiercely- wails, gnashes teeth in rage.
Downpours carve the thirsty earth,
cooling the air.
Unexpected, relentless,
where just last week it held us
in a warm embrace.
Alex, who shuns the sun’s heat,
must be happy, at least.
No longer hot and bothered,
a different way to accept peace
the quiet solace of cooler skies.
The elements dance defiant
of the seasons:
reminding us of nature's
ever-changing mood.
