A friend once said that "what people do not know, it will be difficult for them to ruin." You have to understand that not everyone who you call friends actually mean well for you. In fact, you need to know that the rot that eats the cocoa tree actually lives inside the tree, not from outside. You will be surprised the extent to which your so-called allies can go to plot ill about you if they sense that you are trying to emerge onto the spotlight, or when they perceive that you are trying to outshine them. This is why you need to maintain your privacy in the formative stage of your success journey, until you arrive at your destination.

You do not need to broadcast your plans and the vision you have to everyone you see. There are times that you need to allow your success to do the publicity for you. In life, it is not every step that you take that needs an applause and not every journey needs audience. There are times that your greatest achievements will be birthed in silence, away from distraction, criticism, spotlight, and envy. There are some people that you do not need to share your dreams with, especially those that are going in opposite direction and those with opposing school of thought. This is because they may try to discourage you and talk you out of the dream, then you may lose the confidence to go after it.
When you operate quietly and in privacy, you will shield yourself from premature criticism and judgement from people. More so, you will also protect your sanity. When you plant a seed for example, for days, it will remain hidden in the soil - totally unseen by anyone. By the time it will be seen, it had already germinated and started to sprout. This should be how to go about life. Let your growth announce itself, not the other way round. When you nurture your dreams and your visions in private, it will give you more time to think, meditate, and grow. It also gives one a clarity of mind.
In one of the documentaries I read about Apple Inc and its co-founder, Steve Jobs, during the creation of the iphone project, it was born out of secrecy. In fact, when Steve Jobs and the team of engineers were developing the first ever iPhone, it was done in a very covert manner - away from media attention. The world had no idea what was about to hit them and the wave of technological revolution it will bring in the world of mobile telephony. It was so covert that even within Apple inc, only a few selected staff had the details about the project. When the iPhone was finally unveiled to the world, it took the world by storm. Imagine if they had gone around to announce their vision, they may have gotten contradictory opinions and how it will not be done. Sometimes, you need to work more in silence and allow your success to make the noise.

It is worthy to note that working in silence does not mean weakness, neither does it show that you are scared, rather it means that you are intentional about your success and that you are working to make it a reality without giving room for distraction. More so, you also need to beware, because there are some ills in the world that are hidden in plain sight. The heart of some people are desperately cruel and they may be secretly planning your downfall. This is why you have to avoid premature disclosure and exposure of your plans and your life's journey. The less people know about your plans, the safer they are from falling into the wrong hands.
The next time you feel the urge to broadcast to the world the details about your plans, pause for a while and ask yourself if it is the right time to talk about it. This will help you to know if you are moving faster than required. You may just need to build secretly and move in the shadows first. Moving in the shadows does not mean being hidden eternally, rather it means building silently, working wisely, and allow your success to make the announcement for you.
