You may not know the power of a second until you are faced with a real emergency situation. I once saw a situation when I went to visit a friend in the hospital. They rushed in someone who was involved in a ghastly accident. The way every medical personnel on ground was attending to him in a hurry sent shock wave to me. After he was stabilised, the chief surgeon turn to them and told them that if they had waited a moment late before bringing him, they would have lost him. It was this time that I understood how powerful every second is. In life, there is a powerful tool that has been handed over to humanity which should be used with every sense of value - it is time. You may think that you still have time, but if you do not maximise it, the way it will move will surprise you. This is why time management is very crucial in life, because each passing second counts.

Even though time is among the most value tools and recourses, one adorable thing about it is that it is shared equally. It does not matter your age, background, qualifications, circumstances, each day will still deliver you with 24 hours whether you are ready or not. The most important thing is not how much time you have, rather how you have made the most of it. When you begin to value each second and see it as a tool, you will gain the power to shape your life the way you want. Every success you want is a factor of time management. The people who have achieved success did not have more than the normal 24 hours, they only managed their own well.
A lot of people live through the day in a reactive mode without necessarily being proactive. They react and respond to things as they come, rather than taking action to create what they want. What they fail to understand is that their life will be better when they give time a structure and act accordingly. You do not achieve greatness by just waiting to respond to changes, but by initiating your own change. The truth is, if you will be able to plan even a small portion of your day, you will be surprised what you can achieve for the day. Being intentional about your time will transform even ordinary seconds into the building blocks to build your dreams and your future.
If you have ever seen a mechanical engineer with his toolbox, you will discover that each tool serves a different purpose - the hammer for hitting, screwdriver for tightening and loosening screws, various spanner heads for various sizes of bolts, each tool with its own specific use. In the same way, each second of the day has a specific purpose it should serve. You have to learn to plan the hours in your day so as to effectively manage it. As a student, if you waste the hours you were supposed to read during the day on irrelevant things, you may have to sacrifice the time you are supposed to be sleeping at night to catch up. By doing that, you have already created an imbalance. When you learn to manage each second, you will see that 24hours are more than enough to make something worthwhile.

I am not saying that you should fill each of the seconds in the day with busyness. This is not about overloading yourself with various tasks. This is about intentionality, learning to balance things up, and aligning your time with your priorities. When planning your day, you have to favour your priorities and the things that are important to you first. If your academics are important to you, then they should occupy top priorities. If your family is important to you, then you have to create time for them. If your business is important to you, then it should take the top spot. Trust me, even leisure becomes more enjoyable when it is a choice and not a default.
Remember that when you are making plans for the day, they should be logical, so that you will not end up wasting time when trying to manage time. If what you plan to do is very massive to be done at once, you can break it down to manageable fragments. The seconds in a day are like seeds, and as such, you need to be intentional about them and plant them wisely to produce the best results you need.
