Hello everyone. It is time for #gardenjournal post. With October real cold started to show. If this post was written several days back it would be a bit different. Now with cold and frost fruits and vegetables in garden are in big part done for the season. Couple days back we collected some vegetables since frost may occur. And this morning frost did arrive. Outside fruits such figs and grapes were affected and peppers, pumpkins, tomatoes and other got damaged as well. It is part of the gardening so nothing new and surprising.

This is situation as of yesterday. Morning after frost and fig tree, Leaves are damaged.

Maybe not all of them are affected but outside leaves got biggest hit.

Banana tree. It is quite obvious. Leaves changed color and become soft.

This is our grape. Grape is sensitive to frost and you can see aftermath. Yesterday we were traveling and all grapes in the neighbourhood are the same. Yesterday we collected the grapes that were there.

Cherry tomatoes in our garden.

Leaves are fried as well.

Pumpkin also did not escape the frost.

Couple days back you could not walk around since there was all covered with pumpkin leaves. Now all of them are on the ground.

Since it was getting cold and there was possibility of frost we did collect our pumpkins. This was biggest one.

We also picked our peppers inside the greenhouse as well as one outside.

These are peppers now after the frost.

These are peppers that are outside in the garden. The ones in the greenhouse was not affected. Yet we collected all of them

Yesterday we picked our beetroot. Now we can use it to prepare some pickled beetroot. One of my favorites.

In greenhouse there are still tomatoes and peppers. This is photo from several day back. There is less tomatoes now but you always can find some.

Before the frost our grapes were doing good. This time only fruits in our garden are grapes and figs. Also there are apples but the grapes were daily consumed along with figs. September was fig and grapes month.

This year our fig tree grew so big. Due to cold the fig did not start early but after weather got hot they figs were super tasty.

Our grapes are quite delicious.

You go under the grape and choose ones that are ready to eat.

We did prepare some grape juice as well. We collected grapes at my aunts place.

Beautiful big grapes that climbed on nearby plum tree.

We prepared the juice using the boiling pot.

Lower part is filled with water. Upper part you put grapes and as it heats up it release the grape juice. We also use it to prepare blackberries juice and apple juice. Both of the juices are very good.

We preserved some vegetables for later use. We already prepared and preserved some vegetables. This one is called pickled salad. Ingreidients for pickled salad are cabbage, peppers, carrots and cucumber.
First you grate cabbage. This year we did not have cabbage in our garden so we had to buy some for pickled salad.

Prepare cucumbers as well.

Different types of peppers.

And carrot.

And you start adding the ingredients. First you add peppers. A bit salt and squash it a bit with cabbage.

Then you add carrot and cucumber.

And mix it all together.

After that you put it in jars.

Add cold water and close it. Then you put jars with salad in pot with hot water and wait until it water in the pot starts boiling. You take it out and put to cool off. And pickled salad is ready to use. I think that we already tried pickled salad next day after we prepared it. Very good and delicious.

This is pretty much all for October #gardenjournal Challenge. There is more pickled salad to be done as we collected peppers from our garden.
No much work in garden but now job shifted inside the house to prepare some jars.
