One thing we should know as humans and most especially as Christians is that we are spiritually financially obligated to others, most especially to the needy.
Although, as Christians, we may not be physically obligated to those that are in need, but spiritually I can boldly say that we are obligated to the poor and the borrowers.
The book of Matthew 5:42 says, “Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away.”
What our Lord Jesus Christ was telling us in this scripture was that, we are obligated to give to the poor and to the borrowers, we should not turn ourselves away. This is a testament to our financial obligations to the poor.
Also, we were made to know in Luke 6:35 that, But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil. Here, we were being told by Jesus to give even to our enemies which means we should not segregate while given.
We were equally told here that we should hive without expecting anything from those we have given to or even lendeth to and to me, that's the true giving.
We were equally told in 1 John 3:17, that, “But who hath this world's good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?
Here, we were made to know that the love of God is not in those that shut up their bowels of compassion from their brother after they have seen them in need while they themselves have.
In conclusion, all these bible references and the teaching of Bro. Eli points to only one thing which is our spiritual financial obligations to others, most especially to the poor and the borrowers. He, Bro. Eli made us understand that we may not be obligated physically to others, but spiritually, we must know that we are obligated to others.
