Greetings!
One of those things that makes us unique in life is our names. No wonder there's a saying in my local parlance that says, “one's name is one identity” which simply means that our name says more about who we are.
So, name is a very important part of every individual and as a result, we must as a matter of necessity guide against anything that might tarnish our image which is our name.
Having talked extensively about the name and what it stands for, I would in the same vein talk about the topic of the prompt in the hiveghana community which is all about how we came about our Hive username.
Well, the formation of my own unique username was as simple as ABC. Although @samolaj is a unique and special name on the hive blockchain, its formation was an easy one that comes from my first name which is Samson, the powerful man and my Last name, Olajide which means Wealth cometh early.
Hence, the blending of these two names of mine brought about @samolaj which in English is called blending, a type of word formation.
Although the formation might be so simple, something led me to know more about blending as a way of forming new words in English. But that's not where I'm actually going. Where I'm going is what brought about me using my names for my mail contact and now Hive username.
Some time ago, while I was a corps member in Imo state, there's a seminar I attended back then. The seminar was all about job applications.
So, when the facilitator of the seminar came on stage on that particular afternoon, he told us about so many things to be done for us to be gainfully employed and part of those things he told us to work on is on email address.
But before, he had told us to always make sure we provide a valid address whenever we are filling job application form both off and online. He said the valid address is as important as the job itself.
So, after he had said all these, he also made us understand that our email address is one of those addresses he was talking about.
He said our email address is just like our home and other addresses that we have. He said therefore, whenever we are to open our email or even username of any kind, we must make sure it comprises all our names, which is from our surnames to our last name.
So, ever since then and whenever I want to create or choose a name for myself, I used to make sure those names, be it my email address, username or even my nickname, are not outside my surname, first name and last name. So, that's what led me to using @samolaj as my Hive Username.
