The impactful teachers

Greetings!

As we all know that one of the core pillars of society and life in general is education, I would like to discuss the influence of education on me.

Growing up was kind of tedious for me as a person, especially in my academic pursuit. This is because of the fact that I'm a slow learner. Although, as a young child, my passion for learning and knowledge was second to none as I was always eager to learn, but back then, no matter how eager I was to learn, to assimilate and learn at a very fast speed as my other colleagues was always difficult.

This my weakness would not even allow my parents, most especially my mum to rest, maybe because she's a teacher and someone who loves learning. So for that reason, she helped me to get a home private tutor.

When the middle aged woman came, she introduced herself as my home lesson teacher and vice versa, but one thing i realized after all these was that i was still not learning at the fast rate which is supposed to be learning. But still, the woman would not hate me for who I was and she's quite different from all my school teachers except one Mr. Kareem,  who would go to any length to make sure I understood what he taught me and others in the class.

When others were used to mocking me back then, Mr. Kareem would be the one encouraging me and I can boldly say that his words of encouragement and his love kept me going and my mind still wanting to continue learning. Even, the correct sentences i was able to know then was as a result of Mr. Kareem professionalism in teaching me his subject, the English language.

So, to compare Mr. Kareem and Mrs Okafor, my home lesson teacher would be so difficult for me as they both had the same spirit towards what they do and what's that spirit, it's the spirit of due diligence and professionalism towards their chosen field which is teaching.

Furthermore, as time goes on, things began to change and the efforts of both Mr. Kareem and Mrs. Okafor began to show up as my performances in all my subjects began to take a new form. So, i that had always come last in class now became part of the first three students in my class.

Aside from that, I used to repeat a class over and over again and now became the problem solver in the class and also the school's literary and debate representatives.

I was so sound that I became the school head boy. Through my fast learning process that brought about a total transformation to my life, I became the choice and bride to all my mockers including the teachers and my fellow students and as a result I was able to achieve my goal of becoming a model to all other people as I too later became a teacher in life.

What prompted me to be a teacher was the role the two teachers played in my academic and learning development and just because of that, i tolled their path and i have never regretted it in life as I'm now a model teacher giving hope to the hopeless through my own personal experience that no one is born a dullard and that we all destined to be great in life.

In conclusion, teaching is one of the best professions I would always love to do and at the same time live for. My love for teaching and my academic success story wouldn't have been without the help of the two great personalities that help to shape my life to become a better person. Both are Mr. Kareem, a man who never gave up on me and Mrs. Okafor, the great changer. Thanks so much to both of you, God bless you real good.

Thanks for reading.
