One thing that I have gotten to know recently is that, there's different kinds of friends and it's this kind and nature of their friendship or relationship with us that defines what purpose the friendship or relationship would serve.
I have been into so many relationships and friendships, some are for help, while some are for socials, we also have some that are for dining and winning. All these are what a definition of friendship can be.
Also, we have some friendships that don't belong to the aforementioned categories and that one is always based on advice.
The advisory kind of friendship was what I and Adio is having, but when we started this our friendship back in the days, I was not so comfortable with it and this is due to the fact that, I didn't see any reason why we should be a best of friends without any substantial benefits coming from such a relationship, knowing fully well that Adio is rich.
On a particular day, I walked to Adio and told him saying,
“Adio, I don't think I would be able to continue with this friendship.” “Why?” He asked. “Thank you for the question, it's because there's nothing tangible coming from this relationship,” I said. “Nothing?” He asked. “Yes, nothing other than your stupid advice,” I replied.
It's at this point that Adio, my friend laughed and said, don't worry, you would soon appreciate all the pieces of advice I have always given to you. But I would not even let him finish talking before interrupting him saying,
“Adio, listen and listen to me good, I don't need your advice any longer, it's better you keep that advice to yourself.”
But even at this, Adio would not even say a word in response to what I said to him, instead, he kept quiet and continued with his drawing.
Although I didn't really intend to stop being his friend, I think threatening him with putting an end to our friendship would move him to giving me money, but he would even do what he would not do no matter the threat.
However, as years went by, I realized that what he told me back then when he said I would need his pieces of advice to run my life in the nearest future came to fruition, though we were not so close as before again, but we still used to get in touch when needed.
But back then, there's this piece of advice he gave to me. Then, when we were in school, Adio called me to his room and said to me,
“Sam, I just got this information from a friend about the stock exchange and I would like to advise you to invest your money into it, though it may not rise now, but let me tell you, it's a long time investment.”
When he told me this, I was at first reluctant to hear his voice, but later, I changed my mind and I reluctantly invested the little I had with me back then.
But, recently, I went to the stockbroker who helped me with the investment 10 years down the line and I could believe my eyes, nor ears when I saw the profit I had made with the little I invested back then.
“Haa, this is massive,” I screamed.
So, immediately I was done with the transaction, I called Adio my friend and I related everything. When I told him this, he was not that moved but I could feel it in his voice that he's happy for me and he replied and said,
“Didn't I tell you back then that you will later thank me?” “Yes, you used to tell me, but I didn't know it would be this massive.” I responded. “Can you now see that advice and right information sometimes are what we need to be great in life?” He asked. “Yes,I can see ooo, thanks for being who you are to me,” I said. “You're welcome,” he replied. He continued and said, “make sure you make good use of the money and always continue to invest in something meaning, good bye.” He said.
After this long conversation of ours, I left the broker's office for home and that's how my story changed for good in a twinkle of an eye and since then, I have always cherished the right information and advice.
