Hey guys,
I played the HiveChess Tournament yesterday, but I did not play many games. It was nice to see that we had about 22 players participating in the event, and as usual, @maestroask was the winner with a huge gap between him and the remaining players. He finished with 70 points, while the second finished with 36, and the third finished with 30 points. It was more like he was already first while others fight for second and third.
For me I came in at 11th place since I did not play until the end of the tournament. I played only 7 games, and out of the 7 games, I won 4 and lost 3, all with 100% berserk.
Dakods-16(0) vs ZGM_Samostically(1)
1. Nf3 e5 2. e3 e4 3. d4 exf3
Not to long into the game, white already drops a piece. I guess the only explanation for this is he was probably pre-moving. Since he knows his opening so well, it makes sense that he would want to premove the sequence down to save up more time on the clock, but he did not anticipate that I would push the pawn one step forward. From this mistake, white is already down an officer, which reduces his chance of winning.
4. Qxf3 Nf6 5. c4 d5 6. h3 c6 7. Nc3 Bb4 8. Bd3 Qa5 9. Bd2 Be6 10. O-O dxc4
The game went on further until white dropped another pawn, c4. It is now obvious that white's morale in winning this game is low because of the knight he dropped earlier at the opening stage, hence the reason for his poor choice of moves in defending his pieces under attack.
Things got exciting in the game when white began introducing more pieces into my queenside since I castled to the opposite direction. He saw it would be a long shot to simply launch an attack on my queenside since that is where my king was, which is why you can see the move Bd6 in the position. In the above position, the engine recommends that I capture the bishop with my rook and gain a pawn afterwards, but I chose not to go for it because I had captured a piece earlier.
And then he made the final mistake of placing his queen on a square where my knight was still controlling. From this point, he saw there was nothing else to play for since he was down a knight, a pawn, and now a queen. He simply resigned.

Gmdalods-16(1) vs ZGM_Samostically(0)
After winning against the other twin brother, known as Dakods-16, I got paired with the second twin brother, Gmdalods-16. Like I mentioned in the past, they are the strange twins of Nigerian chess. So I guess this was a revenge attempt for beating his brother in the previous game.
1. Nf3 e5 2. e3 e4 3. Nd4 Nf6
Still the same opening like I played with his brother in the previous game, but this time my opponent saw the threat on his knight and did not make a premove blunder like his brother did. He moved his knight to the center of the board, and we continued with development.
4. Nb3 d5 5. d3 exd3 6. cxd3 c6 7. Be2 Bd6 8. O-O h5 9. Nc3 Bxh2+
On move 9, I decided to go for a classical sac, the bishop takes h2, but I knew the entire setup was set for the sac, since he still has his bishop on e2, although it was worth playing since after my knight goes to g4 and he captures, my rook h8 will be activated leading to more threats and if he does not defend well, there might even be a mate on board.
It was clever of him not to capture the bishop with his king because the set of moves that comes after that gives me more chances than him. So a simple king move away was the best.
From this point, I was winning, because his king was exposed and the next combination of moves drops his rook, and afterwards, I will be a piece up. How I lost the game is so painful. In the endgame, I made a bad king move, which led my king into a mate in 4. You can see it below.
This is proof that it is not over until it is checkmate. A blunder could cost you the game even when you are a piece up or more. I guess it was a revenge served cold for his brother's defeat.
