Hello there
So today I was scrolling through social media during the early hours of the afternoon, looking for funny skits and movie trailers to watch in anticipation of the release of the movie. Apparently, this is one of the ways I get new movies to watch as well. I came across Sarah's Oil, a movie about fate and fortune, what a combination of two powerful Fs. At first glance, I thought it would be a biblical story just from the intro of the young lady, Sarah, who made a statement that her land is filled with oil.

A couple of seconds more, and it turns out it is not. Rather, it is based on a true-life story. So the movie is about an 11-year-old girl named Sarah, filled with a strong belief that her acres of land have oil underneath it, and she can feel it. This period in the movie is the early 1900s, and it even adds to my curiosity about how a girl of such age got this land in the first place.
That is not all with Sarah, she goes ahead to the Sheriff or probably mayor, I am not sure what they call it back then, for an investment into her land for the extraction of the oil buried underneath the ground of the land. One thing about this oil business is that it requires a large investment just to discover first if there is oil underneath the ground, let alone extract it from the ground.
The sheriff turns down the offer, citing that she is a child, and he claims the land is barren. This does not even stop Sarah one bit; she moves on to another person who would be interested. Then she finds a man who would invest in the project. The man character is played by Zachary Levi, and this man is another icing in the pot for this movie. He not only believes in her but at the same time takes a big bet on the land with a 50% ownership with Sarah. Time to do the drill on the ground, and they are faced with challenges. Even her only investor wanted to quit at some point, but Sarah renewed his energy; she told him You give up too easily.
At some point, they get low on initial funds, and they begin meeting other investors who will invest in their project. The way Sarah presented herself with so much confidence to an investor and clearly spelled out the terms got the investor on board.
The interesting part of the movie is when they actually find oil, and now the land is worth gold, but the sheriff finally decides to show his face and wants to claim the land as his own, all in the name of greed, since he sees the value in it. The battle for the land is fierce as Sarah and her investors stand strong to fight and protect what is theirs from those who want to take it from them. She fights on the claim that when the land was considered barren, it was hers to keep, but now that the land is worth a fortune because of its oil, they want to claim it.
All this is what I picked up from the trailer in anticipation of the main movie, but I am sure this is something I have to watch to discover how things play out, did Sarah make her fortune from a very young age just by listening to herself, and what happens in the battle for the land?
I guess all this has to wait until November 7th, 2025, when the movie hits the theater for the first time. You can also watch the trailer below and see what grabbed my interest in this movie:
