Hello everyone! Today I visited Ostrog Monastery.😀

Ostrog Monastery is one of the most famous Orthodox monasteries in the Balkans, and it is located in Montenegro, not far from Nikšić. It was founded by Saint Vasilije Ostroski in the 17th century, who later became the patron of the monastery. The monastery is carved into the cliff of Mount Ostrog, at a height of about 900 meters, which gives it a spectacular and almost mystical appearance.

The monastery consists of two parts: Lower and Upper monasteries. The upper monastery is the most famous part, where the relics of Saint Basil of Ostrog are kept, which are considered miraculous and attract pilgrims of all faiths from all over the world.

Many believers come to the monastery to pray for health, protection and fulfillment of wishes. The Lower Monastery, located further down the mountain, contains a church dedicated to the Holy Trinity and several other monastery buildings.

This part of the monastery is often the place where visitors start their ascent towards the Upper Monastery. The Ostrog Monastery is not only a spiritual, but also a cultural treasure of Montenegro, and is a symbol of the faith, strength and perseverance of the Orthodox people in this region.

Over the centuries, the Ostrog Monastery has become known for numerous miracles and healings, which are linked to the relics of Saint Basil of Ostrog, the patron saint and patron of the monastery. Stories of miracles have been passed down through the generations and are deeply rooted in folklore. Many believers come to Ostrog monastery seeking help in curing various diseases. There are numerous testimonies of people who, after praying and staying in the monastery, were cured of serious illnesses. These healings are attributed to the powers of Saint Basil of Ostrog.

There is a belief that Saint Vasilije Ostroski protects those who turn to him with faith. In folklore, there are stories about people who were saved from dangerous situations, such as accidents or war casualties, thanks to prayers addressed to the saint. One of the most famous miracles refers to the period of the Second World War, when a bomb that fell near the monastery remained unexploded, which was interpreted as a miracle and protection of the monastery from destruction.

There are also testimonies about the miraculous flame that appeared in the monastery, which is connected to the saint's relics. Believers believe that this flame is a divine sign of the presence of Saint Basil.

In the monastery there is a spring of water that is believed to have healing properties. Many believers take this water as a blessing, believing that it can help heal the soul and body.

The view from the terrace is magnificent. 😍

We decided to spend the night because it is considered a special blessing. Many believers choose to sleep under the open sky, and there are enough blankets for everyone in the monastery.

And here it is to remember my drawing that I painted a long time ago. It shows the Ostrog monastery. Earlier I imagined it and observed it in pictures, and now I am here myself in this holy place.

The experience is truly wonderful. I recommend that whoever has the opportunity to enter the Ostrog monastery. 🤍
