With a bag full of medicines.

After ten days of ordeal, finally I decided to get him discharged because the doctors were not very keen to let him go even though, the original issue for which he got admitted was fixed when he was shifted to the room and keeping him in the hospital and giving him heavy medicines won't bring back him on his feet.

They did all kind of tests including endoscopy, colonoscopy and several blood tests and finally they were telling it's more of his aging problem and there is no solution for that. Then why do we keep him here ? Ya, you can take him home, but make sure to come back and do regular check ups - they want to ensure their share is safe.

Dad is only happy only when he is eating, that too good tasty food - if food is not one of his liking ,he out-rightly refuses. That clearly showcases the stubbornness with which he has lived his life all along. But the moment we ask him to walk, he starts showing symptoms of withdrawal and all the dissatisfaction pops up on his face. I don't know why his brain behaves like this, and even doctors can't explain - they say probably brain is able to preserve only what he likes but then do you control your brain or your brain controls you ? These are some straight forward odd questions that I often ask and people don't like that, but at times, I often question myself, why can't I change myself !!!! The world does not have straight answers to many things - accepting that, and moving on is the only way forward.

Couple of elderly Nurses from ICU treated Dad like their own father and came to the room to meet him, encouraged him to walk and engage in activities and Yes was the answer from Dad for everything but then he does not want to remember them afterwards ( or not sure, if his brain does that).

And his brain is always behind water - I moved the desk kept near to his bed and he tried his best and was success to grab that water.

Look at his expression when caught - I was watching him silently and came forward after he did it - if you push your brain this much to walk, then you will not need to come to hospital. But whatever I do, there is no change, giving me sleepless nights in the hospital.

The doctors had given green signal the previous day, but the hospital could not prepare the discharge summary even after 24 hours and I had to fight with them to get it ready. Such is their responsibility and unfortunately, there is no place where you can complain. On top of that Insurance had several queries on why thy did what they did, so that further delayed our discharge to evening. After waiting till 9.30 pm, I decided to pay them in full and come home, didn't have patience to stay another day and again they submit a fresh bill. Before coming, made sure to understand his medications, they forgot to procure couple of medicines and even mention one regular medicine, that I repeatedly had reminded them.

These are the experiences that reminds me to be fit and avoid going to hospital - once you give them control, you won't get it back easily. And keeping Dad at home in a schedule for next few days with so many medicines is our next challenge, I know once he feels good, he will push me to take him to my native or his home, because he has more freedom there, which he can easily abuse. Does his brain tell him that ? Do we control our brain or our brain controls us ?
