Also the largest education hub of Central India housing both the IIT (Indian Institute of Technology) and the IIM (Indian Institute of Management) - a dream of my son to go there.

As part of our trip to Ujjain, we took a direct flight from my place to reach Indore, the financial capital of Madhya Pradesh (Bhopal being the actual Capital), that has been declared as the cleanest city in India 8 years in a row.

Mom loves to travel to religious places and even though I have to plan everything, taking all the responsibilities, seeing the smile on her face, lets me feel fulfilled, encouraging to plan a trip at least in a year, so that it de-congests her a little.

The security check is a big burden and I always let her go without anything and take care of putting everything through the scanner.

We left home at 4 am and thanks to my loving wife to give the breakfast in parcel which we enjoyed during our one and half our flight. The snacks / meal provided in flight is not only costly, but nowhere matches our desi taste and Mom can't even eat anything spicy, so she was very happy with the taste of home.

As we enter the arrival area of Devi Ahilyabai Holkar Airport in Indore, we could see an artistic ovation of Devi Ahalya Bai a beloved figure of our history from 18th-century, renowned for social welfare, humanitarian work and good governance, contributing to the prosperity of Malwa region, which includes Indore.

Then there are five statues of folk artists playing various traditional instruments and performing, representing the cultural heritage of the area.

As we exit out of the airport, we could see the proud achievement of the city of being the cleanest city of India for 8 years in a row.

From the airport we headed straight to Ujjain, a two hour drive and on our way, stopped at a CHAII point, selling the famous Indori Poha, a popular Indian breakfast dish.

They certainly looked delicious, but the driver cautioned us about the spicy taste (seems people of Indore love this form of Poha with lot of spice), so we gave up the idea of tasting it.

After refreshing ourselves with the Chaii, we drove straight to the religiously significant Shipra River, one of India's holiest rivers having divine origins and took holy dip to achieve moksha (liberation from the birth cycle), more to come on that......

And by the way my son wants to join the five year integrated MBA program at IIM, Indore, which is the top IIM offering that course. We will see how it goes, as it's very tough to get there, but this trip certainly provided insight on the place.
