They fight like enemies, but they also care for each other like best friends.
Today is Raksha Bandhan, an auspicious and popular ceremony in our culture in which, the sister ties the sacred Rakhi to the the wrist of her brother and in return the brother gives her a gift, whatever he can to the best of his ability. The gift is just a token towards the role and commitment of a brother in his sister's life to protect and care for her, till he is alive. In our culture, even today, during the marriage of the girl, the brother takes the responsibility of leaving her at in-law's house, and escorts her, whenever she want to visit back Paternal house. The brother has all the responsibility to not only protect and care for his sister, but provide all the necessary items for every ritual at her in-laws house, after marriage. This is a bond that lasts very long, and it gives so much comfort to us (Parents) to know that there will be someone to care for her, even after us. The lady and I do not have the privilege to feel the brother sister relationship, so it's always a pleasure to watch this relationship grow under the same roof - at times fighting like enemies, but then the also caring for each other like best friends, after a few hours.
We always try to teach them all the cultural values and strongly believe that this is what makes our life more meaningful. And in this process, they will be able to learn and carry forward this legacy to their children - to live every moment of life with a strong commitment for each other, because there won't be anyone else who can understand each of them, apart from parents.
And sweet is part of all our celebration and this was no exception - a delicious Chana Poda (an authentic traditional sweet of my place) was prepared at home.
Apart from getting 500 rupees as gift from her brother, she wanted to eat Belgian waffle and I took her to fulfill her desire on this special day - girls are given the highest care at home - they have the larger influence on what they grow up to be.
And after a long time, I shared couple of photos with some music to Fakebook - the web2 has much better means in place to hit people's sentiment - this is something we need to make better.
