Perspective of life from a hospital window
The room in which we are staying in the hospital has a beautiful view that gives a niche perspective to life's desires. Seeing the normal life from a hospital bed means a whole different, it can inspire a patient to get out of the hospital sooner and I have been trying to convince Dad all these days to stand on his own feet soon, because that is the only way to move forward.
We often complain about small little things but these are the times, that reminds us how important it is to simplify life to eat, sleep and walk - the bare essentials that keeps us not only alive but are the founding pillars that we ignore at times in search of greater pursuit.
Dad wants to only eat and sleep, and not walk - you miss any of these three, there is no solution for that and that is exactly the problem that we are facing. Dad is the first person I am seeing, whose mind does not want to understand to do good, in fact, it does the opposite. And even though his body is strong, his mind is driving it in a wrong direction and we are trying our best to deal with that, even though it's pretty difficult. His water intake is restricted but he wants the exact opposite - he always looks out for opportunities to drink water and a small moment of our absence serves his purpose.
Giving him some music therapy, and trying to drive him towards spirituality is also not working well, because his mind actively refugees to accept them - his interest being limited to eat and sleep.
A clean shave made him feel smarter, everyone is always beautiful in their own eye and realizing that at this moment brings some positivity in him.
Do we live to eat or eat to live ? Dad wants to live only to eat and even the doctors finally surrendered by allowing him to eat normal diet instead of patient diet, because he refused to eat them. Having strong desire to eat is also a gift at this age. I called in the dietician and made a balanced menu, because what he wants to eat will only take him to ICU again. And we only have to face the consequence, because as long as you pay the hospital, they have no problem in keeping you. It's like you buy pain, at the cost of self satisfaction.
I have been trying to convince him, but it does not make much difference - he understands that it's not very hard and is pretty simple but probably he has surpassed the age, to be inspired. So we will have to increase our patience and find out alternatives to treat him like a child. These moments collected will cherish our memories for a very long time.
