Announcement

We drew curtains on the last round of the contest, and we want to say thank you to our prize sponsors, @curie, and for all those who participate either through writing entries or reading (and supporting) the authors who enter.

In the last round we announced some changes for the contest. Here's a reminder below:

Contest Duration As you have noticed, our contests entry are usually open for 7 days, and we run one every week. Going forward we are going to make it a bi-weekly affair, to suit these other changes better...

More Topics Covered Presently our contest is open to folktales from around the globe. Henceforth we are giving entrants more turf to exhibit their creativity, as long as they are based on folk traditions. We will accept folk songs and dirges, proverbs, research articles on folk cultures (example here), rituals, initiation rites, and of course folktales. Build original content around any of these. The best stuff win.

Prize Restructuring First prize remains 5 STEEM. At the discretion of organizers we may decide to reward more than one "first prize", if we have deserving contents from different categories (above), up to 2 places. Example, we may reward 5 STEEM for the best proverb, and another 5 STEEM for the best folk tale or song.

Second prize is 3 STEEM, up to 3 places. Third Prize is 2 STEEM, up to 2 places.

We are scrapping the "popular prizes."

Content must be original, and based on an existing folk tradition.

Last week's contest closed with some good entries. We appreciate everyone who contributed through stories from all corners of the world. We all win when we hold the hands of others into our individual cultures and heritages. That is the beauty of the sankofa contest.

The top entries from last week, as selected by our judges are below. We invite you to click on them, read the very interesting stories, and support the authors if you deem their contents worthy.
