Hoy fui con cuatro compañeros del equipo de atletismo al Sambil Margarita después de entrenar. Con la intención de ir a Farmatodo a comprar unas iselitas, vi que una señora hacía exámenes de la vista y decidí probar por curiosidad. El resultado mostró que tengo miopía y astigmatismo. No recuerdo los valores exactos porque fue mucha información para un solo momento, pero me dieron un papel con los datos y un cupón del 20% de descuento para un examen completo en la óptica.
> Today, I went with four teammates from the track team to Sambil Margarita after practice. I intended to go to Farmatodo to buy some contact lenses, but I saw a lady doing eye exams and decided to try it out of curiosity. The results showed that I have myopia and astigmatism. I don't remember the exact values because it was a lot of information to take in at once, but they gave me a piece of paper with the data and a 20% discount coupon for a complete eye exam at the optician's.
Mientras esperábamos comprábamos las iselitas de yuca con limón. Para mí son mis meriendas favoritas porque son naturales y muy ricas y compartirlas con mis amigos fue un buen descanso tras el entrenamiento matutino.
>While we waited, we bought cassava chips with lemon. They are my favorite snack because they are natural and very tasty, and sharing them with my friends was a nice break after our morning training session.
Al salir como a las 11 de la mañana, caminamos por el centro comercial. Me llamó la atención lo vacío que estaba, habían pasillos despejados, tiendas con las rejillas metálicas esas que no sé cómo se llaman y solo algunos empleados organizando productos. El Sambil, que es uno de los centros comerciales más grandes de la isla y normalmente bullicioso, parecía otro lugar. El silencio era algo muy raro para un sitio tan famoso de Margarita.
> Leaving at around 11 in the morning, we walked through the shopping center. I was struck by how empty it was, with clear corridors, stores with those metal grilles that I don't know what they're called, and only a few employees organizing products. Sambil, which is one of the largest shopping centers on the island and normally bustling, seemed like a different place. The silence was very unusual for such a famous place in Margarita.
Cerca de la salida pasamos por la fuente de los pecesitos. Había un montón nadando juntos, pero uno negro estaba apartado en una esquina. No sé por qué estaba solo, lejos de los otros. Me quedé mirándolo un rato.
>Near the exit, we passed by the fish fountain. There were lots of fish swimming together, but one black fish was separated in a corner. I don't know why it was alone, away from the others. I stared at it for a while.
Y después de tanto caminar mis amigos me dijeron para entrar a una tienda de peluches que no conocía. Es una tienda nueva, por eso no recuerdo el nombre pero tenía estanterías llenas de animales como My Little Pony, Winnie Pooh, Hello Kitty entre otros. Muy bonita la verdad.
> After walking for so long, my friends suggested we go into a stuffed animal store that I had never been to before. It was a new store, so I don't remember the name, but it had shelves full of animals like My Little Pony, Winnie the Pooh, Hello Kitty, and others. It was really cute, to be honest.
Fueron muchas cosas imprevistas: un examen improvisado en Farmatodo, un descuento para lentes, y la rareza de ver el Sambil tan tranquilo a esa hora. Caminar por sus pasillos vacíos, con la fuente de peces casi desierta, fue extraño. Yo creo que casi nadie ha vivido esa experiencia tan silenciosa del lugar, muy distinta al bullicio normal de la tarde.
> There were many unexpected things: an impromptu exam at Farmatodo, a discount on glasses, and the strangeness of seeing Sambil so quiet at that hour. Walking through its empty corridors, with the fish fountain almost deserted, was strange. I think almost no one has ever experienced such silence in that place, so different from the normal afternoon bustle.
