Visiting the sierra in Margarita, Venezuela

Hello everyone in the @worldmappin community. Today I want to share with you a wonderful experience I had recently, which was a hike to Cerro El Copey National Park on Margarita Island, Venezuela. This park is a natural beauty protected by the National Parks Institute, and I want to tell you why it is a destination you cannot miss if you visit this beautiful island. Cerro El Copey National Park is a place of incredible natural beauty. Located in the municipality of Arismendi, this park offers a unique experience for nature lovers and hikers. One of the things that impressed me most was the diversity of plants that can be found here, there are so many beautiful and colorful flowers that make the landscape very pretty.    To reach the summit of Cerro El Copey, I decided to walk; although the road is also accessible to cars and trucks, I chose to walk so I could enjoy nature and every detail of the landscape up close, and it also gave me some exercise. The one-way trip is approximately 4 km, and the best part is that the return trip is also 4 km, making for a total of 8 km of adventure and exploration, but don't worry, because the walk is worth it.   An important recommendation is that it is best to go early in the morning. The earlier you arrive, the cooler it will be during the ascent and descent; although the hike can be a bit demanding due to the sun, once you reach the top, the weather is much cooler and more pleasant. It is an incredible relief to reach the top and feel that cool breeze after the effort.   Cerro El Copey National Park is located on Margarita Island, a well-known tourist destination in Venezuela. What many people don't know is that this park is part of the Arismendi municipality, which is where the climb begins. Margarita Island is famous for its beaches, but places like Cerro El Copey show that it also has incredible natural wealth in its mountains. In addition to its natural beauty, the park also has significant ecological importance. This is an ABRAE (Areas Under Special Administration) in Venezuela, this means that when you visit the park, you are walking through an area that is being carefully cared for and preserved and it has plants and animals that are unique in their species.   If you love photography, this place is paradise, every corner of the park offers an opportunity to capture stunning images, from wildflowers to mountainous landscapes that will leave you spellbound. Don't forget to bring your camera or your phone with a full battery, because you'll want to document every moment, I assure you!  One of the most interesting aspects of visiting Cerro El Copey National Park is the opportunity to learn about the region's diversity of plants and animals . There are many species that you won't find them anywhere else in the world. This makes each visit special and unique. Another thing I loved about this place is the tranquility you feel, unlike the crowded beaches of Margarita; the park offers an escape into nature where you can disconnect from the world and simply enjoy the moment. It's a perfect place to meditate, reflect, or just relax and enjoy the natural beauty around you.   Before finishing, I want to give you some practical advice for your visit; First, bring enough water and some snacks, because even though the route isn't extremely long, it's important to stay hydrated and energized. Second, wear comfortable shoes that are suitable for walking, because although the path is accessible, there are parts that can be a little rocky or uneven. Third, don't forget to bring sunscreen, a hat, and a towel to protect yourself from the sun during the climb.   I also recommend that you go with a guide the first time. In my case, we were accompanied on the tour by the father of one of my friends, who knows everything there is to know about national parks and nature reserves on the island. Thanks to him, I learned all these things and remembered some more that I had learned in my nature classes. In the end, I realized that this way you appreciate your surroundings more, because when you don't know much about a place, it can seem like just another place with little to offer. In short, Cerro El Copey National Park is an incredible destination that offers the perfect combination of adventure, nature, and tranquility so, if you ever visit Margarita Island, don't miss the opportunity to explore this wonderful park, i promise you it will be an experience you will remember forever.
