Even though she is old, she is still healthy. Even though she was hunched over, my mother could still go to the bathroom herself and take care of herself, sometimes she couldn't bear to see my mother walking hunched over, and we children always offered to carry her but she refused, because she felt she could still walk. We bought her a wheelchair to make things easier for my mother, but she still loves to walk even though her's hunched over. I hope my mother is always healthy and happy.
My mother lives in the village with my younger brother. she preferred to stay at home rather than join us in the city. We understand that she definitely prefers living in her own house, because her house has many happy memories with her late father. And it was also in that house that our children were born.
On this Eid al-Fitr holiday, all of my mother's children returned to the village to meet our mother. This made my mother very happy. Because according to my mother, the happiest thing in her life right now is when her children and grandchildren get together. My mother loves it when we joke and laugh together, especially when her grandchildren play together, my mother looks very happy, even though the atmosphere becomes noisy with the screams of her grandchildren while playing.
I live in a small town, about 2.5 hours by car to my village. As usual during big holiday celebrations the roads will be jammed. We were stuck in traffic for quite a long time, until finally we were able to get out of the city road onto the road to my village.
.
We entered the oil palm plantation road. Here the streets look deserted, there are lots of muddy roads and potholes. I enjoyed my trip, because I was used to this road since I was little, unlike my son who always complained about the potholes and muddy road.
And there are always lots of cows walking in the middle of the road and often blocking everyone's journey, and the cows continue to walk calmly even though my husband has honked his horn many times. But that's a funny thing for us. And usually there are lots of monkeys on the side of the road, but today I didn't see them, maybe because it was very late, so the monkeys went home,..haahaha
And finally I arrived at my mother's house when it was starting to get dark, I left at 3.30 in the afternoon and arrived at my mother's house at 7.00 in the afternoon, it took a while to get there because I was stuck in traffic.
My older sister arrived at my mother's house first, and she seemed busy cooking to help my sister-in-law, so I immediately helped them prepare dinner. And not long after, my three brothers who lived outside the province also arrived at my mother's house. We promised to go home to mother on the same day, April 1st.
We are 10 siblings, two of my siblings have died, so we are left with 8 siblings. And on this Eid al-Fitr holiday, we all gather together with our partners and children.
It was really busy, we told each other stories, joked about reminiscing about our childhoods and talked about our children. It felt great to be able to gather with our extended family, my mother was very happy, her face was beaming to welcome us.
Sometimes I feel guilty, because I can't go home to see my mother often, because of my busy schedule and work routine every day. But we always call my mother at least once a week, and my mother really understands how busy her children are.
