Most people come to this area in the summer and for good reason.
The elevation gain is high, the tent area is covered in snow, and only the backcountry alpine hut for those brave enough are available for reservation.
This is exactly why we wanted to go however. I love winter. It's often quiet and reserved for us "crazy" folk.
A very long and steep snowshoe (6hours, over 1000m) led us to our sleeping quarters where only 2 other people nestled in the alpine cabin with us.
It was worth it. I was able to capture images never really seen from here- and for a place that is usually swamped in summer the peace and silence was wonderful.
Funny enough we also booked a cabin reservation for September so really looking forward to seeing the difference in images.
Who else loves winter?
