Today’s #HiveAroundTheWorld challenge is all about street food, and of course, I have my all-time favorite snack—the one I can find on every corner of the city, along highways, and in little towns all across Cuba. I’m talking about ripe bananas! Now, I know what you’re thinking: “That doesn’t count! That’s not real street food!” 🙄 But… IT TOTALLY IS!
They sell them in the streets, and I eat them in the streets. I know you might say there are food stalls with elaborate dishes, prepared breads, and pastries (the most “diverse” options you’ll find on this island going through a million crises 😩). But the truth is, I haven’t eaten any of those in years. Ripe bananas have become my go-to street food because I can (almost always) find them easily year-round, they’re super nutritious 🏋️, they come in their own natural packaging, and they taste amazing 🍌💚.
You might guess that I always have bananas in my bag or am on the hunt for some to buy. And yep, your intuition is spot on! Every time I step outside, it’s automatic—my eyes start scanning for my precious yellow treasure. Prices are a whole different story, but let’s not get into that now 😩. Instead, let’s debate: Can a fruit be considered street food? What do you think? 🤗

🌎 Hoy en el reto #hivearoundtheworld hablamos de comida callejera, por supuesto que tengo mi alimento estrella; el que encuentro en cualquier rincon de la ciudad y a lo largo de todas las carreteras y pueblos de Cuba. Me refiero a los platanitos maduros, ya se que vas a decir que no se vale, que esto no es comida callejera y tal 🙄... pero, SI LO ES ... Los venden en la calle, y me los como en la calle. Ya se que me vas a decir que hay puestos callejeros con comidas elavoradas, panes preparados y pastelería (dento de lo mas diverso que se pueda encontrar en esta isla policrisis 😬); pero resulta que no como nada de eso hace muchos años, y convertí al banano maduro en mi comida callejera favorita, porque que encuentro (casi siempre) fácilmente todo el año, porque es muy nutritivo 🏋️, ya viene con su empaque natural y es muy sabroso 🍌.
💚 Podrás intuir que ando siempre con platanitos en mi bolso, o buscando para comprar. Sí, tienes buena intuición; cada día que salgo a la calle va incorporado rastrear con la vista donde se encuentra mi tesoro amrillo. Después viene el tema precios, pero ahora no viene al caso 😬 y vamos directo a debatir; si una fruta se considera comida callejera... ¿Qué piensas al respecto?🤗
