The dog, who has always been a friend of man, has been given a beautiful performance in Las Palmas, the main city on the Spanish island of Gran Canaria. It is actually one of the symbols of this city that is a sculptural group of 8 life-size dogs that are placed in the square in front of the Cathedral of S.Ana in Plaza S.Ana.
But even the name of these Canary Islands actually refers to these animals because its meaning is precisely that of “land of dogs
The particular bronze sculptures of these dogs placed in the Plaza of S.Ana are called "los perros de Santa Ana", and represent 5 different dogs in very expressive and decidedly realistic poses.
It is said that they came from France also because they know the name of their sculptor, Alfred Jacquemar, and their resemblance to the dog sculptures guarding the castle of Chantilly, near Paris, is truly amazing.
Evidently the taste of the era gave these animals an important role in urban decor.
