The #Ecency platform has a great way to promote engagement within their own platform, and that is the Engagement Leaderboard. The leaderboard is part of the Ecency blogging frontend, and Ecency users are encouraged to engage with other Hive users by no other than @melinda010100 (Melinda).
On the main version of the frontend (https://ecency.com), it is located at the center-left portion of the Discover page. The legacy version of the frontend (https://v3.ecency.com) shows the leaderboard at the left side of the legacy Discover page.
Mechanics
Here are the details of the Ecency Engagement Leaderboard. For simplicity, this section will refer only to the main Discover page (not the legacy version).
- Posting and commenting using the Ecency frontend counts as engagement. The user must use the Ecency frontend to publish content for their activity to be counted as engagement. There may be other activities that also count as engagement, but are not disclosed.
- Publishing content on Ecency #Waves (which can be found on Ecency Decks) also counts as engagement.
- There are three categories of the engagement leaderboards, which are the Daily, Weekly, and Monthly.
- Each category of the leaderboard gets updated at least once per hour.
- On the Daily Leaderboard, the count displayed for every top user represents their respective total number of engagement for the past 24 hours. It does not get reset to zero at a specified time of any day.
- On the Weekly Leaderboard, the count displayed for every top user represents their respective total number of engagement for the past 7 days or 168 hours. It does not get reset to zero at a specified time of any week, which means that only those users who stopped using the Ecency frontend to engage for (almost) 7 days will disappear from the list (where non-active users will slowly drop down the leaderboard over the course of almost 7 days).
- On the Monthly Leaderboard, the count displayed for every top user represents their respective total number of engagement for the past 30 days. It does not get reset to zero on the first day of any month or on any other day.
- Comments that are too short (such as only emojis and token tipping commands) won't be counted as engagement.
Weekly awarding by Melinda
@melinda010100 manages the rewards for the Top 50 Ecency users in terms of engagement once a week every Monday (UTC), roughly at 10:00.
- Each of the Top 3 on the leaderboard gets awarded with 3 HIVE and 500 Ecency Points straight from Melinda.
- Each of the users from Top 4 to Top 10 on the leaderboard get awarded with 2 HIVE and 300 Ecency Points also from Melinda.
- The awards from Melinda for the Top 10 users are sent within an hour after the awarding post. The most recent awarding post by Melinda is here.
- The leaderboard has lucky number sponsors, where each sponsor chooses a number from Top 1 to Top 50 to award any prize to. Rewards for users whose position on the leaderboard is a lucky number are to be given directly by the sponsor, not by Melinda.
- Melinda declines any prize, either for being one of the Top 10 users or being a lucky number awardee.
