Armored Up: Turned Armor Into Power!

Splinterlands has deep strategic gameplay mechanics, and part of this is because of its game Rulesets. They are the modifiers that change the conditions of each battle, sometimes by putting restrictions on cards that can be used or by giving cards certain abilities or debilitations that change when and how a player will use their cards. In each battle, players will have up to 3 active rulesets, and this gives an added twist to each battle and the player that adapt the most on the given ruleset wins the battle. And so, for this week's [Community Engagement Challenge](https://peakd.com/hive-13323/@splinterlands/splinterlands-community-engagement-challenge-ruleset-revelations), let me share with you how I usually approach my battles when **Armored Up** ruleset was in play, and I use it to make my cards stronger.

### Armored Up Rulesets

**Armored Up** is a ruleset that gives +2 armor on all units, giving all cards an additional protection against melee and range attacks, or if they had the *Void Armor* ability, units can also protect themselves against magic attacks. But with the addition of new abilities within the modern cards, it is now possible to turn a card's armor into attack, increasing the damage you can inflict against your opponent, and that was thanks to the *Armored Strike* ability.

*Armored Strike*, on the other hand, is an ability that allows a unit to attack using its armor and was treated the same as a melee attack. The downside of this ability is that its attack will be reduced each time it loses its armor, so playing them within the **Armored Up** ruleset not only makes the ability more potent, but also gives more protection to the cards. Furthermore, to utilize these rulesets better, here are some tips: ___

Tip 1- Archon Choice
For my approach in the *Armored Up* ruleset, one of my favorite Archons to use is **Elias Max Pruitt** for it gives + 1 melee and armor on all units, and aside from that, you can choose to give your units either the Repair and Cleanse ability or the Armored Strike and the Pierce ability, and typically, I used the Armored Strike and Pierce ability as that will allow me to give one of my units to use it's armor as an attack. Also, since it was a dual summoner, I can use a combination of Water and Life units, which gives more flexibility in what strategies I can use.

Tip 2- Choose Units which already have huge armors.
When choosing what cards to use in this ruleset, units that already have a lot of armor are a great choice because the ruleset and the archon ability will further increase their armor and make their attacks using armored strike more powerful. Tip 3- Add units with Protect and Repair to sustain the armor of your units.

### Sample Battles

**Battle 2:** As I said, Armored Strike not only works on melee units, but on any units that have an armor, and as you can see in this battle, only units with range attacks are allowed to be used. But typically, range units cannot attack from the first position, unless with an ability or ruleset that allows it. ### Closing
And that was how I dealt with the Armored Up ruleset, and by which I find really fun. Typically, I would usually go with magic attacks, but with the addition of the new ruleset, this new approach in battles gives us more interesting play and damage that we usually did not see.
