Hello there! **@saydie** here, playing **Splinterlands** everyday!

One of the things that brings depth to the strategic gameplay of Splinterlands are its rulesets. They are the modifiers that change the condition of the battlefield. Sometimes, it will bring bonuses that could strengthen both teams, while on other occasions, it will bring debilitations that will weaken both of them. Under certain situations, it will even restrict what type of cards each player can use and will even remove some of your cards' abilities. So it is not an exaggeration when players say that rulesets are sometimes something that you should be more worried about than the opponent you are facing, and that is true for the ruleset that was recently added to the game. But don't worry, because I will share in this post how we can potentially deal with this problematic ruleset.
### Global Warming

Before the most recent ruleset addition, there were a total of 54 rulesets that were available in the game, where the number of rulesets active in each battle can go up to 3 modifiers, depending on which league a player plays in. But now, the number of rulesets available goes to 55, and based on my knowledge, it was also the first ruleset that was added since the release of Conclave Arcana. The name of the Ruleset was
Global Warming
.

**Global Warming** is a new ruleset which causes the *Burning* status to be applied to all units at the start of the battle. Having the *Burning* status causes the units to lose 2 health every round that the status is active.
### How To Deal With Global Warming
There are multiple ways to deal with **Global Warming**, you can either cut the debilitation at the source, focus on increasing health and regeneration, or use the pain to power your cards. Whether you want to use one or a combination of these will depend on what modifiers and cards you have available.
* **Cut The Debilitation at Source**
In order to remove the Burning debilitation, you need cards with the Cleanse ability, which removes all status debuffs from the allied unit in the first position, as well as the Cleanse Rearguard that can cleanse backline units. You can also use cards which has the resurrect ability that allows a card to be revived with only 1 health, but with all the negative debuffs removed, or Born Again ability, which allows the card to self-resurrect. There is also the Resurgence ability that self-resurrects a card with 100% health, but will inflict 1 damage on all units.

* **Focus on Increasing Health and Regeneration**
On the other hand, if you want to prioritize building your card's health and regeneration, you need to have abilities like Life Leech that increase the max health of a card by 50% the damage it inflicts, or the Scavenger ability that will give + 1 health for every card that was defeated. Then to sustain the damage received, you will need cards with Heal that allow the card to self-regenerate health, Tank Heal to heal the first position unit, and Triage that allows the regeneration of a backline unit's health. There is also Corrupted Healing that heals all units that take damage and restores up to 70% of their health, but loses 1 max health each time.

* **Use The Pain to Power Your Cards**
Aside from sustaining your team's health and hoping to outlast your opponent, you can also go on the offensive by using the debilitation to power your cards to inflict more damage on your opponents. This can be done by using cards with the Enrage ability that will increase the speed of all cards with the ability, as well as the damage of cards with melee attack. You can also use cards with the Painforge ability, which gives +1 power for every turn that it gets the Burning effects. At the same time, Bloodline Tribute will increase the stats of all units that share the same bloodline with the card after it is defeated.

### Closing
With a new ruleset around, playing the game will feel a lot different as the ruleset gets mixed with other rulesets, and increases the depth of the game. And while it was one of those problematic rulesets, there are multiple ways to deal with it and as long as you know it and use the right cards at the right moment, you have the upper hand in the battle.
Thank you, and see you on the next post!
