Some Ruleset Ideas I Like to Share

Hello there! **@saydie** here, playing **Splinterlands** everyday!
The thing with Splinterlands rulesets is that they bring more depth in every match we play, making each battle a different experience from one another, and also changes how we build our lineup. Sometimes, it even leads us to a discovery of new card synergies as we adjust our team composition based on what rulesets were active, while there are also times that the active ruleset poses more of a threat than the opponent. And so, with more rulesets around, the more it will make our battles more interesting as we try to find ways to conquer them or incorporate them in our strategies. Right now, there is a total of 57 different rulesets in the game, after the addition of three new rulesets recently, which include *Global Warming*, *Thick Skinned*, and *Now You See Me*. And depending on the level where a player competes, they can get up to three different rulesets for each match. If my memory serves right, since the release of **Conclave Arcana**, we have not gotten any new rulesets until the recently added ones. Anyway, here are the ruleset ideas that I want to share, how I think they will work, and why I think it could be an interesting ruleset. By the way, the images I used to illustrate each ruleset were created by using Adobe Photoshop and Google Gemini, with most of the images referenced from Splinterlands assets.
1. A Wild Last Boss Appears!
**Description:** Players can use one Non-modern card per battle. **Implementation:** Modern Only (ranked, brawls, tournament).

I think having a ruleset like this one should be an obvious choice and can certainly be fun, especially right now with the *Bloodline Dominion* ability, where not only can an Archon summon units regardless of the element as long as they share the same bloodline, they also get additional stats and/or abilities from them as well as the *Bloodline Tribute* ability that will increase the power of units with similar attack and all the other stats of cards as long as they share the same bloodline. ![image.png](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/saydie/23tGcNPDAChU4LymN8A1QCPM6g7BaCHj6jja345i3LYJJRuQsT73K1ZEjwPKJiqNoRUKH.png) I also don't think it's impossible for this ruleset to be implemented, since we already have **Are You Not Entertained?**, which allows players to use one gladiator card to be used and at the same time, this will bring more utility to non-modern cards. ___
2. Brute Force
**Description:** Units with the highest damage attack first. **Implementation:** All Game modes.

Kind of similar to **Reverse Speed** ruleset, where the slowest card gets to attack first, but with this one, the unit with the highest amount of damage gets to attack first. Attack priority remains the same, where if cards had the same damage, magic units will attack first, followed by range and melee, but attack accuracy will still depend on the unit's speed.

3. Certainty
**Description:** All RNG-triggered abilities/debilitations will have a 100% chance to proc. **Implementation:** All Game modes.

This one was similar to **Aim True** ruleset but will only work on RNG-triggered abilities such as *Affliction*, *Cripple*, *Halving*, **Mimic**, *Poison*, and *Retaliate*, upon successful attack. This ruleset only guarantees that the RNG abilities will activate, but the attack itself will still need to land. 4. Friendly Fire
**Description:** Attack has a chance to land on ally units, instead of the target. **Implementation:** All Game modes except Frontier.

This was like **Aimless** ruleset, but instead of the opponent, the attack will land on an ally unit, based on RNG chance. I will leave the decision for the RNG numbers to the team for game balancing. 5. Typhoon
**Description:** Units with *Dodge* ability gain +1 speed, and units without Dodge will be hit with 1 melee damage after every round ends. **Implementation:** All Game modes.

It was like the *Earthquake* ruleset, but gives immunity for *Dodge* units. The reason why I think we need to have it is that I find it sad that even though *Flying* and *Dodge* both give a 25% evasion chance, *Flying* always comes as the first choice due to the *Earthquake* ruleset. 6. Venom Scourge
**Description:** If any monster on the team is poisoned, the poison spreads to one monster each round. **Implementation:** All Game modes.

The effects of this ruleset are much like the effects of *Burning* debilitation that spreads to other units, but again, the RNG chance will be left to the team to balance the game. So far, these are all the ruleset ideas that I can think of right now. It would be great if any of these ideas became a reality, but that depends on whether the ruleset makes sense and will not break the game's balance, and that job falls to the team to figure out.
