Mucha felicidad para todos los miembros de esta comunidad @musiczone y todos los participantes y administradores del Hive Music Festival que lleva ya 144 semanas consecutivas ofreciendo este maravilloso espacio virtual para compartir buena música de todos los géneros. En esta oportunidad les traigo una canción de los llanos venezolanos titulada "Viejo corral", me la enseñó hace más de cuatro décadas mi primer profesor de música: Benigno Antonio Canache. Sin embargo, por más que busqué en la web no encontré la letra de la misma ni tampoco video alguno. Imagino que fue compuesta por él, pero no tengo la certeza. Su letra es romántica, no habla de amor pero sí de desamor. El personaje principal le habla a un corral para albergar ganado que está viejo y con las cercas caídas. En el pasado tuvo muchos tiros fieros en él, mientras que quien narra compara su situación de un amor perdido - representado por unos ojos negros - y le dice al corral que ambos están en la misma situación y van a buscar la misma solución: en el caso del corral colocar cercas nuevas y mantener sin tranca la puerta para que regresen los toros fieros mientras por su parte él va a esperar que "al corral de sus amores vuelvan unos ojos negros"

This time, I'm bringing you a song from the Venezuelan plains titled "Viejo corral" (Old Corral). It was taught to me more than four decades ago by my first music teacher, Benigno Antonio Canache. However, no matter how hard I searched the web, I couldn't find the lyrics or any video. I imagine he composed it, but I'm not sure. Its lyrics are romantic; they don't speak of love, but rather of heartbreak. The main character speaks to a corral used to house cattle, which is old and has fallen-down fences. In the past he had many fierce shots at him, while the narrator compares his situation to that of a lost love - represented by black eyes - and tells the corral that both are in the same situation and are going to look for the same solution: in the case of the corral, put up new fences and keep the gate open so the fierce bulls can return, while for his part he goes to wait for "some black eyes to return to the corral of his loves."
