Ayer llovió torrencialmente en el sector en que vivo – y hoy está haciendo un frío atroz - . La precipitación pluvial trajo a mi recuerdo la canción “Lluvia” , vals creado por el compositor zuliano Luis Guillermo Sánchez.
El tema de la canción narra en primera persona la experiencia de alguien nativo de Maracaibo, capital del estado Zulia en Venezuela, una región caracterizada por tener todo el año altas temperaturas, por contar con el lago de donde se extrae el petróleo, por una forma muy particular de hablar, ya que allí, como en Argentina, en lugar de decir tú o usted, se utiliza el “vos”. Esta persona, acostumbrada al calor y al sol se encuentra – por circunstancias que la letra no narra y que siempre me ha parecido que es algún estudiante universitario residenciado lejos de su terruño natal – en alguna localidad andina.
En medio de una tarde brumosa, de tupida neblina y una lluvia tenaz y copiosa se llena de nostalgia por su sol, y su lago. El cielo es un manto gris. Llega la noche y la lluvia no calma, al contrario, prosigue más fuerte y más fuerte se hace también la nostalgia.
Esta canción ha sido interpretada por diversos vocalistas como Mayra Martí – quien la grabó en 1986 -, Lila Morillo y Alfredo Sadel, entre otros.

Lila es nativa de Maracaibo, ha viajado y sabe lo que es estar lejos de “la tierra del sol amada” como es llamada su ciudad natal y la nostalgia que se siente por la lejanía.
