The legend of the creation of Altai
Once, God decided to create a Golden Land on the earth - the abode of peace and happiness. He called the Deer, the Falcon and the Cedar and ordered everyone to look for a better place for themselves. Where their paths converge, there is to be the Golden Land. Long Deer rode on the ground. The Falcon rose high in the sky. Deeply rooted in the land of Cedar. And, finally, they met in a mountainous country, where all three felt good and free. There the Golden Land arose, the name of which is Altai, which means “gold”
The Legend of Cedar
Once in a remote cedar taiga, a weary hunter settled down for the night under an ancient, spreading cedar. The cedar was very old, its branches bent from time to time, the entire trunk was covered with convolutions, and on the ground under it a meter-long layer of needles was formed, which fell throughout his life. The tired man became comfortable and warm on such a soft feather bed, and the hunter fell asleep on a beautiful coniferous bedding. But at dawn he woke up because his sensitive ear caught someone's moan. The hunter listened and heard a quiet conversation. It was the old cedar that the hunter was sleeping under, with the young one standing nearby. The old cedar groaned and complained to the young that it was exhausted and could not stand. “Why don’t you fall, because I heard about it yesterday?” The young cedar remarked in surprise. “I would have fallen yesterday,” answered the old cedar, “but a tired man was sleeping under me.” The hunter took pity on the old cedar, got up, hugged once a mighty trunk and stepped aside. Then the old cedar swayed and with a sigh of relief fell to the ground.
