6 best beaches in Portugal

Last september me and my friends went on a road-trip trough Portugal. We landed in Faro and ended up in Porto 9 days later. First thing to visit was the coast of Algarve, then we went ahead. The country is unreal. There is so many beautiful landscapes to see. Every beach is unique and great but I created a list of 6 which I like the most.

1. Beaches in Lagos Praia da Dona Ana, Camilo Beach and Ponta de Piedade.

Those beaches are very close to each other, less then an hour walking distance. Every one of them is extremely picturesque with amazing cliffs embracing the little beach down. The beaches are accessible by wooden stairs. The rock formations are magnificent. You can climb those cliffs and have a amazing views over the sea. If You want to walk from one beach to another I advise you to do that a bit different way. We walk all the way along the cliffs. There is not even a path but you can walk it with just a small effort. This little hike is so worth it. You have those amazing views all the time!

2. Praia dos Pescadores, Albufeira

This beach is situated right in front of Albufeira's old town. There is even an escalator which you can use to get to the beach or town. It is very popular among tourists and locals. The beach is big, clean, with nice soft sand. Perfect place for relax in the sun.

3. Praia do Carvalho, Lagoa, Carvoeiro - hidden treasure

Very small beach with a bit difficult access. You need to walk like 20 steps down in tunnel made in rock. It is the only way to get to the beach from land. There are some cliffs you can climb with rock shelves you can sit on and enjoy remarkable view over the sea. It may be a bit dangerous to walk so close to the edge so you need to be careful and mind your steps!

4. Praia da Rocha, Lagos Those beach was like downward from our hotel. Another perfectly beautiful place, almost empty, perfect for relaxing. We spend there some time during the day and we had some picnics there at night. It was so great and peaceful. Those rock formations still amaze me.

W found there some hidden caves, accessible when low tide with water below our knees.

5. Odeceixe Beach, Aljezur

This amazing beach is on the western Seaboard, on the very north west of Algarve. This one is totally different. The sea was colder, whole beach make the specific impression, like it is somemthing rough about it, not very welcoming. I love it. There were not many tourists but a lot of surfers. It looked so epic, those small dots on the horizon when you looked down from the hill.

6. Praia da Costa Nova, Aveiro

We went there on a bad weather day but still the place was amazing. The beach itself is an open stretch of shoreline sandwiched between white sand dunes and the clear, crashing waves of the Atlantic making it an idyllic location to spend the day. In Costa Nova beach, there is also some specific architecture. The beach houses are painted in some colorful stripes. It looks super nice.

Worth mention is also Espinho Beach close to Porto and probably way more. Portugal is perfect country for a beach time.
