Australia’s Big Icons Get the Coin Treatment Again in 2025 🐑🍓🎸
The Royal Australian Mint and Australia Post have launched the Aussie Big Things 2 coin series, celebrating ten quirky roadside icons with collectible $1 coins and a limited-edition two-coin proof set.

Australia’s love affair with oversized roadside attractions continues in 2025 with the release of the Aussie Big Things 2 coin program—a follow-up to the popular original series that turned national kitsch into numismatic art. From giant sheep to towering strawberries, these coins capture the spirit of Aussie road trips and regional pride.
🪙 What’s in the 2025 Collection?
The series features ten $1 uncirculated coins, each depicting a beloved “Big Thing” from across the country. Highlights include: - The Big Merino (Goulburn, NSW): A woolly tribute to Australia’s sheep industry - The Big Strawberry (Koonoomoo, VIC): A fruity icon of regional produce - The Big Golden Guitar (Tamworth, NSW): Honouring Australia’s country music capital - The Big Prawn (Exmouth, WA): A crustacean colossus from the west coast - The Big Wheelbarrow (Port Hedland, WA): A nod to mining and hard yakka - The Big Penguin (Penguin, TAS): A chilly mascot from the island state - The Big Barramundi (Wanguri, NT): Celebrating Top End fishing culture
Each coin is available in a folder and tube set, with a chance to score a rare coloured strawberry coin—a 1-in-10 surprise for collectors.
I like to purchase these coins as a keepsake and a hand me down to my kids. At a cost of $32 AUD, it's not a heft investment and you get $10 worth of uncirculated coins as well.
As you can see from my purchase, no coloured coin for me.
