My Actifit Report Card: August 10 2025

Today was a great day. We started it with a movie The Irishman, which is a three and a half hour long movie, but it was totally worth it. Al Pacino and Robert Deniro were awesome, as well as the rest of the crew.

This is the kind of movie that stays with you long after you are done watching it. It also gave us a great refresher of the John F Kennedy times and unions and mob at the time.

We even watched a short documentary on the son of Jimmy Hoffa, who was a lawyer and later became a teamsters president and served ten years longer than his father in that role.

He also expressed his views on the movie and other movies about his father. He is not a fan because he doesn't think that the movies portray how passionate his father was about the unions and how they talked about the union business at home.

He certainly has his perspective, but it doesn't take away from the fact that The Irishman is a great movie.

Images in this post are from our quick stop by at the Crystal Creek Cafe in Bothell on our way way to pick up our daughter from my parents in law where she stayed overnight.

This was our rare experience with classic American cousine. We were short on time, so we didn't wait for the table and came in and sat at the bar. The service was super quick, and the portions were more than generous.

I ordered a California Omlette, which came with four eggs, bacon, avocado, sour cream, and a bunch of other vegetables. It also came with three large pancakes, butter, and maple syrup. I was full the rest of the day and couldn't finish the pancakes even with my wife's help.

Later in the evening, we did have some homegrown tomatoes. I had this nice raspberry luana tomatoe, and the ladies enjoyed three early girl tomatoes with their sandwiches.

We did manage to go for a walk with my wife and daughter, part of which our daughter was riding on my shoulders. She is now over seventy pounds, so after some time walking with her on my shoulders, it definitely became noticeable.

After the walk, we also built a yurt in our living room from a bunch of dining chairs and blankets. And we were playing with alpacas in and around it. I was also playing a camel and was giving her rides on my back while on all fours and doing a speedy bear crawl. She is twelve years old and is very intelligent, but part of her still clings on to our goofing around from her childhood, and I love it!

Tomorrow is the start of a new week and a big day for us as we will be going together to a Whidbey Island to take care of a few very important tasks and we will take an opportunity to stop by our favorite restaurant on the island: The Oyster Catcher.

Somehow, I managed to get to ten thousand steps today, which is really good. Now, I need to fit in a weight lifting workout on Monday or Tuesday.
