Introduction
I have two accounts in Splinterlands: seattlea and investor777. Seattlea is in YGG Legion guild and investor777 is in Plan B. Both are top guilds that always play in tier five brawls, but Plan B is extremely competitive and YGG Legion is more laid back guild. I enjoy both guilds, to be in two super competitive guilds would have been too much, but have both accounts in a laid back guild would have me miss out on the experience of fighting for number one spot in the highest tier of brawls.
Tier five is a fairly small tier when it comes to brawls, there are only 23 guilds active in tier five. For comparison purposes here are the active guild numbers in other tiers: * Tier 4: 51 Guilds * Tier 3: 118 Guilds * Tier 2: 146 Guilds * Tier 1: 115 Guilds
Since tier five is fairly small it is not uncommon for YGG Legion to face Plan B in a brawl. Since Plan B is so strong and usually takes first or second spot in a Brawl it is always a thrill to defeat one of the Plan B brawlers and today I would like to share a battle where I managed to pull of a win just like that in a Diamond tier.
My Strategy
My strategy for this battle was fairly simple: I decided to bet on high speed and relatively high damage monsters with Arkemis the Bear as my tank. If you read my posts before you will notice that I really like to play Arkemis the Bear aka Salty Bear as my main tank in high mana battles.
I also like playing a monster with a Martyr ability and I am using Ash Mirage as my ranged attacker nerf as we have a ruleset where ranged monsters can attack from any position.
The Battle
Here you can see that my opponent is betting on a very strong Shieldbearer card from the Untamed ruleset in conjunction with two tank healers: the older card Truthspeaker and a newer Chaos Legion rewards set member Venari Crystalsmith. He is also using one of my favorite Gladiator cards: Captain Katie.
He is also using a big damage dealer Corsair Bosun which makes me glad that I used my Arkemis the Bear card as my main tank. Just looking at this lineup it is really hard for me to predict the winner here, in fact GELO05 looks a bit stronger than my lineup. But this is the fun on this game you never know who will win, so let's see the battle!
In round one I cleared some shields, but it doesn't seem like much has happened otherwise, I did see that my Firecaller has fury ability and can strike their taunt for five damage in a single strike, that could be really handy here...
Unfortunately Scattershot did not cooperate with me here and Firecaller didn't strike the first position, but we did managed to take out one of their healers in round two.
Their Captain Katie took out one of our monsters and unfortunately it seems that it will take out another in the next round becoming even more powerful.
In round three their Captain Katie took out our martyr monster and became a seven magical damage monster, we really need to get some more kills right about now...
In round four we finally got rid of their taunt tank, but we are now on the verge of loosing our Ash Mirage monster that nerfs two of their ranged attackers.
And in round five we did manage to take out another monster in their line up and it was a crucial monster to get rid of as it moved up their Captain Katie to the very front right in front of our Arkemis the Bear that has a force shield so we should not be loosing our Ash Mirage in round six.
In round six we were able to take out two of their three remaining monsters and at the start of round seven it is clear that we have this one:
Using our speed advantage we take out their Luceheim Demon without letting it take its single shot.
