OK, time to be accountable once again! Let’s see how I did with yesterday’s accountability list...
- Exercise ✓
- Stretch ✓
- Meditate ✓
- Walk outside
- Draw or read about art ✓
- Get off the internet by 9:00 p.m. ✓
- Go to sleep by 1:00 a.m.
- Watch a TV show or movie with my family ✓
Starting off with the failures here because I want to nail these... I once again did not walk outside, and did not get to sleep by 1 a.m.
Well, on Friday and Saturday I went to sleep quite late. My family and I were up watching quality TV and couldn't get enough of it on Friday. The next day, I went to visit family in a different area, and there was not much time that I spent with electronics. There were board games and going outside for food. We came back rather late (close to 2 a.m.), but I did slightly change one habit from the usual: instead of sitting to watch TV, I went to bed... and turned my TV on. LOL!

Ended up falling asleep somewhat late and awaking at 1 p.m. There went my entire day. By the time I got through my daily routine, it was already somewhat dark outside. Fortunately, I got off the computer by 8:30 p.m., did my exercises, meditation, stretching, and even fit in a little of reading about art history, then had a nice dinner and watched quality programming with my family. I ended up going to bed at... I think 1:45 or 2 a.m., so not terrible compared to my goal, but still late.
A small aside: there's actually a great positive here. For a long while, I thought I would not be able to refocus my concentration on intellectual pursuits for a long time because my brain was filled to the brim with my studies for my career. The fact that I could once again concentrate enough to read about art history for a little while was wonderful. There was also some time spent watching a documentary about Leonardo DaVinci. My mind may be reopening again. This is progress!
In the very near future, I would like to actually spend time drawing instead of just reading about it. This means I'll definitely have to be off the internet earlier if I also aim to hit my goal of going to sleep earlier. It's very doable... but I'll have to exercise some strong intent.
Today's accountability list...

I did get up earlier today, and am knocking out my productive items here and there. It's unlikely that I'll be able to make it to the store to look for new glasses, but there's enough daylight that I can still make it outside. I'm intent on doing this today! I actually feel a sense of personal guilt for not going outside except on Saturday. I'm completely mobile and able-bodied... there's no excuse!
Something I'll address in a future post (and I'll write this here to remind myself so I don't forget) is an exploration of why I'm insistent on working on something productive every single day of the week (weekends included) instead of just giving myself the opportunity to let go completely.
Let's see how the rest of the day goes...
