Aate ka Halwa is a great recipe which is made during Puja, fasting or any other special occasion. Although halwa is made in many ways but aate ka halwa is something else.
Aate ka Halwa is served as Prasad in Punjabi Gurudwara Langar. I am also making this halwa during our fast after Paryushan.
Ingredients:-
1) wheat flour- 1 cup
2) Ghee- 1 cup
3) Sugar- 1/2 cup
4) Water- 3 cups
5) Cardamom powder- 1 tsp
6) Dry fruits- as required
Method:- Heat ghee in a pan and add half cup of ghee in it.
When it melts, add flour to it
Roast on low flame while stirring continuously till it turns brown and a good aroma comes out
Now add three times the amount of water to the roasted flour as compared to the amount of flour
Add (3 cups) more sugar and mix
Keep stirring the flour with a spoon until all the lumps disappear
After this, let the halwa cook and when it starts thickening, add the remaining half of the ghee and stir.
The halwa will become thicker and will not stick to the edges. It means the halwa is ready
Now turn off the gas, add cardamom powder and mix it
And take it out in a serving plate and garnish it with dry fruits of your choice
