When someone referred this anime to me I wondered what it was all about. Hadn't heard about the manga like the other 2025 summer releases and it wasn't till I heard it was Chinese that I understood why. - I don't read donghua (Chinese manhua) - I didn't know Chinese manhua had isekai.
Lord Of The Mysterie.
Plot
Zhou Mingrui, a hardware engineer from southwestern China decides one day to try a luck enhancement ritual and gets transmigrated into Klein Moretti, a freshly deceased graduant from the Department of History at Khoy University in a new city, in a new world. This new world filled with potions, steam and gods, exhilarates and intrigues Klein (Zhou) and before long he finds himself affiliated with the Nighthawks and becomes a beyonder, welcoming himself into the world of divinity.

Suddenly, it seems as though Chinese donghua adaptations are becoming more of a norm and I'm so happy for them.
The first Chinese anime I watched was The Outcast and I loved it, especially their animations and fight scenes choreography.

That was a long time ago though, almost three years since I watched it and nine years since it was released.
It goes without saying that since then the animation game has gotten loads better!
Lord of Mysteries animation was unreal!
It had this smooth lux about it that made even the tiniest detail visible. This sub realism that goes well with the plot of a steampunk magical show.
The animators were the real star of this show, it's no doubt.
The world building was insane!
Now this is the first time I'm coming across this show/donghua and this is a story that just keeps getting bigger and bigger.
I love the way the anime goes, introducing us bit by bit with Klein, letting us understand it through his eyes.
Allowing him/us realize just how vast the world of the beyonder are and how tangled the strings of power get.
This last season was a 9.0 rating for me. They really put on a show. Slowly leading us on the mystery, Klein moving up and about, getting stronger, getting wiser and getting more confused.
Nobody knew what was happening until the final moments before it happened. It was masterfully crafted.
The final fight was insane, I don't think I have a GIF for it and it's not yet on YouTube (best of my searches), even if it was, I wouldn't spoil it for y'all, but just know it's one of the best ends of a season I've seen this year.
A fight against a baby god, was put in perspective in their universe and we see the efforts it takes just to try and contain it. We see how much it can destroy, we see how scary it can become.
I really can't fully explain how beautiful this first season was, how masterfully it was crafted, but I can say this.
The next season that has been booked for 2027, I'll be there against to see how far Klein would go in the clown arc, the fandom just gained a new follower ✨
